Maybe it's because this team is so much better than anything we've seen recently, but I don't remember it being this bad.

Part of it is the popularity of the team. It invites a bunch of slack jawed jackals to the fan base who now want to impart their knowledge via the internet. Welcome to the 21st century and all that it entails. Critical thinking is no longer a virtue.
