Kluane in Canada is almost unknown and has some of the best scenery in the world. Has 19,000 Mt Logan. Access is an issue for most.

I love my home, but I don't know why anyone would visit for vacation...maybe Smith, Guntersville, or Martin lakes. Mentone? I'm at a loss.

Roger, have you ever been to the Gates of the Arctic? I've been looking at off the wall places in NA to go to and that definitely fits the bill.

The northern half of Arkansas is surprisingly nice. Lower half certainly drags the average down.

Big, big money folks who come here for skiing in winter or fishing/rafting/hiking in summer are often disappointed with the rest of it

We have primarily heli skiiers in winter, they'll sleep on anything..

Sitka Alaska is an outdoors utopia, if you can handle being in a temperate rainforest. Its on Sitka Sound, has volcanoes, bears, whales you can see from downtown, and trails you can access the alpine right from your hotel room. Some of the best salt water fishing in Alaska too

Sitka was the first Capital of Alaska, and home of Russian America at one time. Lots of Russian and Native influence. No access to the outside world except ship or plane.

There is a lighthouse in the sound that's a BnB. Lots of Ballers live on the islands.

Gary, Indiana - You can see Michael Jackson's childhood home as well as a historic view of America's rust belt.

Their baseball field has a killer view. Seamart Grocery store parking lot is a good place to see whales.

I have a noted email on this site. I'm looking for a summer vacation kinda cheap side. Looking water stuff or hiking without getting killed by a bear.

Did you go up to Copper Harbor to see the beginning of Hwy 41? It goes all the way down to Miami.
