I bought this over the winter and just picked it up again this week. Boy howdy can I sink some hours into this, and I have no clue where the time goes.

It's not the kind of game I ever thought I would like but I oddly enjoy it.

Curious if you're playing on console or PC? I almost bought this over the weekend through Steam and, ironically, forgot about it after going out and mowing my own yard. But this just seems like the kinda mindless game that I could sink hours into as well. Just need a couple people to sell me on it since the concept just seems so basic.

I freakin love mowing yards though so I probably should just go for it.

Love it but be careful with modded maps. I got deep into one and now part of the production chain is glitched out. It's wanting pallets as a part of just about all production chain recipes but they won't accept pallets when I drop them off and also won't let me buy them straight from the production.

So that kinda pissed me off.

Seen talk of FS23 coming out by EOY. I got FS19 free off Epic when the release of 22 was near and kinda expect 22 to follow that path.

I actually prefer 19 due to "hack" mods that modify some of the most tedious tasks like giving HUGE swaths for harvesting/plowing/fertilizing the huge fields, or just faster machines.

ETA: There are PS and Xbox versions of all kinds and the FS lineage dates back to like 2013 or 2015 so somewhere in there will be PS5 compatibles.

Yeah it's on PS5-- that's where I play. It really is an amazing chill out game. I can accidentally lose hours in a session.

It's weirdly addictive, maybe because it's just so simply peaceful and the progression pulls you forward. You start off with a few fields and a small amount of equipment, do the tasks in front of you, then realize you need to buy one more piece of equipment for the next step. Then you have a little bit of money and want to buy a new piece of land, so do that then knock out some contracts for other farmers and you find yourself with a few more parcels of land. Your operation grows to the point where you need larger equipment, so you wait until you save enough or take out a loan and up your game. Then you decide you want to get into supply chains and production, and that's a whole new piece.

I've done all this and still haven't even gotten into raising animals yet.

This shite is nice. It is the farm version of out of the park baseball and i gotta tell ya, I see the potential to sink 200 hours into this lol.

I'm more of a Power Washing Simulator guy myself. It's much more polished than Lawnmower Simulator. I have a little over 1000 hours in it now and they just released new content last week.

When you get your cow farm going and buy the dairy production chains, the money starts popping off.

Btw I always sell cattle after 40 or so months. Eventually they slow down their milk production so it just ends up being a drain on water and feed. They sell for a solid chunk of cash as well.

Where do you put your animal pens at? I've been slowly expanding my empire and wondering what makes the most sense. Do you just pick a field and let that be your spot? I'm on Elmcreek.

find a smallish one nearby that has crappy soil.

You want it nearby because once you get like 100 head or more of cattle, you'll be offloading feed every day. It takes 2-3 trips to fill my cow pen up with TMR.

When you say crappy soil, is there a soil quality component I still haven't even looked at?

It might be a mod but if you go to the map and change to where it shows you farmland price, it shows me the makeup of the soil and theoretical percentage yield.

Also a place with a lot of trees is a good spot. You can cut down all the trees and sell them and it will help recoup some cost.
