Or was the sudden turn against Blackwater by the deep state deserved?

I would suggest you watch the Shawn Ryan podcast with the Erik Prince, the founder of Blackwater.

The Iraqi Government revoked Blackwater's license to operate in Iraq on September 17, 2007, after a massacre in Nisour Square, Baghdad in which Blackwater contractors were later convicted of killing 17 Iraqi civilians.[112][113] The deaths occurred while a Blackwater Private Security Detail (PSD) was escorting a convoy of U.S. State Department vehicles en route to a meeting in western Baghdad with United States Agency for International Development officials. The license was reinstated by the American government in April 2008, but in early 2009 the Iraqis announced that they had refused to extend that license.[114] In 2009, FBI investigators were unable to match the bullets from the shooting to those guns carried by Blackwater contractors, leaving open the possibility that insurgents also fired at the victims.[115]

I shoot with a few of their former instructors from time to time. Pretty stand up guys. I am sure not all are good guys.

The same reasons banks turned on Republicans.

Democrats promised them more money and control.

Conservative minded hard men being trained to a razors edge by an organization not directly controlled by the government. That makes the swamp nervous.

After listening to that when it first came out, that guy would definitely drain the swamp if given the chance.
He moved out of the US and is currently doing work for shipping companies . He has exterminated the Somalis that were preying on them.

That’s why small government conservativism is always an uphill battle. The establishment loves regulation because it cements their position and makes it nearly impossible to be challenged. In an era of rapid technological transformation this is more important than ever. The statue quo loathes a free market.

Blackwater was basically neutered and relinquished to ESG-friendly control. They had screwed up but It's pretty obvious they ran afoul of the state department, CIA, etc because of how much media attention, persecution, and actual prosecution they experienced. Shooting civilians isnt what did them in, just like using child slave labor dooesn't do Apple in. They had execs prosecuted over procedural things they basically did for the state department.

They actually just changed their name to Triple Canopy and got another 100 million dollar contract with our government.
Again changed their name to Academi and yet another 135 million dollar contract.
