Their songs are more fire. The Hell Song, Fatlip, etc. They have catchier tunes and don't have some stupid arse cookie monster screaming at the top of his lungs. Sorry, but 80s metal was cringe as hell!

Never understood the love for 80s metal. The only good song by Metallica was Battery but the rest were absolute dogshit

Here is your attention. I like Sum 41, but don't be obtuse.

If you were not a teenager or alive in the 1980's, you will never understand 80's metal.

Metallica is a band that released a handful of great albums 30-40 years ago. Their last 25 years or so have been utterly unremarkable.

Sum 41 is a band that gets a ton of hate by gatekeepers for no good reason. Their last two albums were both heavy as shitte, and awesome. Their early albums went back and forth between pop punk and classic metal, but they’ve gotten heavier with age. The only “bad” album, in my opinion, is “Screaming Bloody Murder”, which is basically their St. Anger. So, yeah, Sum 41 had only one bad album while Metallica had several.

I was not alive in the 80’s, but I can assure you, I understand 80’s metal.

Anyone who uses words like “fire” and “cringe” is pretty cringe themselves. Why don’t you go listen to some Sum bangers instead of posting?

I’ve never heard Sum 41…after reading this thread I thought about checking them out, but then I read where they’re yet another political band, trashing anything conservative.…nope, not interested.

By "a handful", you mean 5 in 8 years? As in, a crushing catalogue to be envied by almost everyone else?

Since you said "or so", I'll include Load. Load, Reload, Garage Inc. and Death Magnetic are all great.

Their last album was pretty explicitly anti-Trump, but their most political album, “Chuck” was a masterpiece. It was anti-consumerism and anti-war, but done so in a subtle manner. If one was listening to it in 2004, they’d understand it to be a critique of the Bush Administration and the War on Terror, but listening today, it could just as easily apply to the current regime.

Not all political music is bad.
All to Blame

I long ago lost count. I was raised on Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Dio, Judas Priest, and early Metallica. I don’t play metal as a guitarist mostly because I am limited by my own abilities on the instrument. Heck, “Number of the Beast” was one of the first songs I tried to learn. A few songs I’ve written definitely straddle the line between blues and metal or post hardcore and metal. A lot of my music wouldn’t sound out of place in the 80’s metal scene, albeit no gated reverb snares or synths allowed. Heck, one song I’ve been performing lately is heavier than almost anything made in the 80’s, yet today, metal posers and gatekeepers look down on what I do. It’s so pointless trying to please people like that.

I'm always so curious what goes on in someone's head that would lead them to create an alter account, go to an obscure board (maybe not as obscure as books or food/drink, but this isn't the OT or TR), then post an obviously retarded troll thread. I mean the ones that don't realize you're an alter are just going to downvote and call you an idiot, which I assume is yoru goal and what you want...but why? I mean what satisfaction is there in that? It just seems so incredibly strange to me to giggle to yourself and think you've done a great job but sayign a stupid thing and then having people call you stupid for it. Like what is the appeal?

I think some do it to try to make their post history look board diverse so after a short time when they go in hard on the real target it won’t look as obvious.
