Is it worth the trouble lining up early in the morning to buy a TV on Black Friday?

In this economic climate, I am tempted to wait till around Christmas to get the LCD TV.

Thoughts?

nah. Black friday isn't bad if you want some of the non-loss leader stuff (clothes, etc.). But if you want the $100 60"LCD, it's going to suck.

Have the price of HD TVs come down much lately? I am not in the market right now, but I could use a new TV in one of my rooms...just don't HAVE to do it...but if I could get a good deal, I might consider.

I know Circuit City is in the dumps, and Best Buy is hurting too...

Just go to Wal-Mart. They're pretty damn cheap.

Go online on Thurs. I bought a 52" Samsung plasma from Best Buy last year for $1350. It was 50 bucks for them to deliver it.

As well they should be ...

Forget about them and their "sales."

Try NewEgg, TigerDirect, OneCall or Buy.com

And don't buy ANY HDMI cable at a local store. Go to Monoprice.com for that.

Wal-Mart will blow everyone out of the water.
As well as big close-outs at circuit city after Christmas.

They have online sales going on now,I believe.

Amazon appears to be matching them on cable prices now.

Both for the gloomy economic reasons you are suggesting, and the fact that the best TV deals often come leading up to the SuperBowl.

To answer Chicken's question, I've seen mention that places like Walmart will have noname 720p 32" LCD's for $399. I don't think that's the doorbuster special, I think that's the new floor in LCD pricing.

I know your looking at LCD's, but take a look at buyplasma.com. They've got some deals. My dad got a 60" pioneer from there. It was a freaking steal.

from the consumerist: no deals: notorious compusa liquidator to run circuit city closings

Your worst suspicions have been confirmed, the liquidator that ran the notoriously awful CompUSA liquidation (they actually raised prices, click here to see a photo) is conducting the liquidation of 155 Circuit City stores.
