Ford Motors applies for a pretty unique patent for those who don't pay up

Imagine you’re running behind on car payments and your vehicle disables its AC, locks you out, and eventually, drives away on its own. Ford Motor Co. applied for a patent last month that would use future car technology to do just that.

Wasn’t planning on buying a brand new vehicle anyway, but it definitely won’t be a Ford (I have no trouble paying my bills, but I don’t like that type of overreach)

Anyway It looks great until you realize that the end goal is for no one to ever 'own' anything You will pay your subscriber fee for your car or lose it forever

I've installed a hidden kill switch inside all of my cars to turn off the fuel pump. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out how to do the EV equivalent of that.

LoL... Well THAT isn't a selling point that will nudge potential buyers in favor of buying a Ford.

Plot twist: It breaks down before it reaches the end of your driveway.

Knew a guy who worked for a used car dealership that would finance almost anyone with a paycheck to show they had a job. When they sold a car, they would install a GPS tracker in a hidden place. They kept one set of keys to it and if the person got two payments behind the dealer would send out a guy at night and take the car back. They had a fenced in place on the lot and would park it there, usually behind some clunker cars. When the customer got even on their payments, they got their car back.
One mother called begging for her son's car back. When she was told "No". she asked if they could come and get his rims back, claiming e had paid more for the rims and tires than he had paid for the car. They just told her, "Then I am sure he will get slick with us on the payments."
These guys sold a lot of cars, and their payment assurance program worked better than most. There were words in the sales contract to cover what they did, just never any mention of the GPS trackers.
