Never seen it on my feed. I actually connect with a bunch of MAGA ppl and most who you’d never think are against our current administration and policies.

Didnt Twitter pretty much create the tech TikTok uses? Iirc and that's right musk needs to kick it up fast as the biggest hurdle for me has been all the businesses that use the app, and that's the only thing this ceo can hang his hat hot for not getting shut down ASAP.

Trump tried, and iirc early on Biden stopped the progress there. Now it's the businesses as I've already heard the "95% of my business comes from TikTok" interviews and this ceo is saying their are 5 million businesses on the platform. So let's say about 500k, if that many, are freaking out right now and maybe making phone calls.

This is the first hearing I have seen that both sides of the aisle were piling on the invited speaker. For twitter and the twitter files it wasn’t the case. Meta was handled with kid gloves.
TikTok got lit up over and over with the standard answer of “I’ll have to get back to you on that with specifics”.
Does anyone not believe that they won’t now move towards a full ban of TikTok.
This hearing was a huge flop for TokTok and it is obvious they completely misread the room in how they prepared and their approach to difficult questions.

The problem is that most people don't know how to do this. And when most people can't use it, TikTok can no longer collect data and there isn't as much content being uploaded (which kills the product stateside).

Yeah, I'm not comfortable with the .gov telling us what we can and can't consume. If people want to give their personal info over to the CCP, so be it.
The problem is people aren't informed, even if it's in the TOS. What I don't think should be allowed is fraud or compromises of national security. At some point my interest in national security outweighs your desire to post cat videos.
As for the age issues, I think we should restrict SM of all types to at least 18, but I'm all for raising the age of majority (except criminal) to 25, provided that also includes the right to vote. Our college students are mostly the same mentality of 14 year olds a century ago.
Or maybe I'm just venting because I'm tired of watching the country turn to shite and seeing the libertarian take which seems to weigh contrarianism over pragmatism.
