Howdy all,
I have a California style garage that the back opens towards the East. I have two hooks for hanging plants and need advice on what would do well. I can water the plants and rotate them 180* once a week, no problem.
Partial morning sun.
Wandering Jews have done okay here, but not great. I really didn’t like typing that, btw.
We want something with color, but if it has to be a green fern, so be it.
Baton Rouge area.

Was coming in to suggest wandering Jew, but I’ll see myself out now

We tried store bought and replanting some from my parents flowerbed.
None have done well. Not sure why.
Too much light, not enough light, too much water, not enough water? No clue. Leaning Boston Fern and being done with it.

You sure the confederate jasmine wasn’t crowding it out?

I mean are you looking for color or what?
I find the ferns cook pretty easy if the sun finds it so they aren’t my favorite, had better luck going the herb route with verbena, sage or rosemary so you get a little color but also the smell while staying low maintenance.
If you want a lot of color could drop some cheap impatiens in there and not feel too bad if they get cooked because you are only on the hook for $10 or so.

I just bought some ferns for our east facing house. Got them at LA Nursery.

Monstera
Louisiana Nursery on Perkins has one in about a 3’ wide hanging pot that looks awesome. I started mine from a dying plant and was able to nurse it up. Have to be able to bring it inside during cold and keep it away from direct sunlight. And they love water.
The roots hang down through the basket.
