Two rouses locations in thibodaux. Now this. I bet it's packed for a few weeks then empties out.

I have no reason to go on that side of town except lowes.

Stopped at rouses on the way back for beer and ended up watching a guy get arrested for shoplifting bananas and seltzers

I don’t know. The article in the Houma Times did not mention that. It even did not mention that they had a location in Thibodaux. The article was cut and pasted from Southland Mall’s Facebook:

quote:

Southland Mall is excited to welcome Lynn's Interiors to their new 76,000 square foot location in Houma, LA, opening Spring of 2023. Lynn's offers Home Furnishings, Appliances, Mattresses, Outdoor Cooking, Outdoor Furniture, Youth Furniture, Rugs, Lamps and Decorative Accessories, along with custom interior design services.

Lynn's is honored to showcase South Louisiana's Newest La-Z-Boy Comfort Studio with one of the largest selections in the area. South Louisiana's largest bedding gallery featuring Tempurpedic, Sealy Posturepedic, Stearns & Foster, and an exclusive Miranda Kerr Studio. Lynn's was also chosen to showcase as the area's exclusive Bassett Design Center Gallery, featuring a wide array of fully customizable dining, upholstery and bedroom options. Highlighting the huge selection of quality furniture are top brand names like Bernhardt, A.R.T., Universal, Bassett Club Level, Caracole, Craftmaster, Mayo, Hooker, Kincaid, Klaussner, Four Seasons and many more.

In addition, we carry a full line of indoor and outdoor appliances from Speed Queen, Thermador, KitchenAid, Bosch, Whirlpool, Maytag, Frigidaire Pro, Scottsman, Amana, GE, GE Cafe, Verona, Lynx outdoor, Blaze outdoor kitchens, Traeger pellet grills, Primo Ceramic Grills and Smokers.

Southland Mall is looking up these days. Just last year they added an indoor go cart track in the former RiteAid/K&B space. Some of the fields behind the mall were turned into soccer fields. They added The Red Seal Pizza restaurant in the Cucos/A&G Cafeteria space. There is still a lot of vacant space on that wing. Heck the movie theater hasn’t shown a film in nearly 20 years, and the bank closed sometime after Regions bought American Bank and Trust in the late 1990’s.

Fun fact for your Sunday, the main cinema in the Southland Mall Cinema could seat 600 movie goers, and had one of the largest indoor movie screens at the time. The cinema also featured rocking seats.

Malls are real estate time bombs. They kept moving my ex's sister's store and giving her a deal on rent just to help male it look full in certain parts. Until recently, there hasn't been much interest from businesses to move in there.
