Anybody else miss thes 2 BR institutions?

Cabela's can be ok to browse around in but growing up I could spend hours in these 2. They just had a personality and were fun.

N.A. seemed to have every gun imaginable and Steinberg's downtown was like the Tardis on Dr.Who, it was amazing the stuff they had crammed in that building. Bowie's is close but just doesn't have the personality.

Along the same lines gunshows used to be awesome. The internet has brought availability and easy searching for the lowest price but it's all just so sterile now.

Enough of a nostalgia rant for the day, you youngsters will never know what you missed.

I remember Steinberg's had a Mannlicher-Carcano hanging from the ceiling and a sign that said it was the same kind of gun that killed JFK.

Also Gramberry's(SP?) off Choctaw by GN Gonzales.

I remember Military M1 Carbines lined up for $75.

My dad worked at Steinberg’s when he was at LSU. Loves to tell those stories.

Friends dad worked there during late 70’s or early 80’s.

That was just a cool place.
Fred Parnell’s “The Louisiana Sportsman Boat” and the upstairs was cool.

Basically sold the boat and all the stuff to rig the boat how you wanted it. My father had one and my Uncle.
For 15ft boat they had them tricked out.

I met Roland Martin at the downtown Steinberg’s once. Totally geeked out and got an autograph.
