I would let loose Zion. He doesn’t play, why keep him…?

Because in the NBA you rarely get franchise level players so you hold on as tightly as you can to them when you have them. Zion took a good first step last offseason hiring a professional chef and trainer. He can do even more on his own to keep his body in peak condition. He also can do things on the court to reduce his injury risk like shoot more. Until you try those things and he still never plays, you keep Zion. It’s just too soon to give up on him because you usually don’t get even close to equal value back in these situations.

As for the OP I don’t like the thought of either KAT or Porzingis on this team. Both have injury issues and KAT seems soft and is on a max contract.

However trying to figure how we add shooters to this roster that Willie would actually play is pretty hard. He often doesn’t want to play Trey. Trey may not be good at defense, but he’s better than a lot of
shooters you would bring in. Would he play a Luke Kennard type?

Getting a 3 point shooting big might be the only roster move that works with Willie even though I am very opposed to adding the specific players mentioned and would not personally go in that direction.

This 100%…I’m all for defense but the Pels are struggling to score 100 points in the modern NBA.

IMO Kira getting only 3 minutes per half last night was criminal…he didn’t shoot well the last game, but he is literally our best % shooter over the season, creates a physical mismatch at guard with his speed (which is badly needed with BI/Zion out), and had the only positive +/- on the team. Instead we ground it out with our non-shooters to the tune of 22 turnovers and 96pts.

You simply can’t roll out lineups with 3-4 nonshooters and expect it to work…might as well forfeit.

Pels aren't in bad shape, I believe they really need only quality backups for Zion, BI, and CJ to better replace any of the 70 pts. collectively they give you and a defensive oriented center who can protect the rim and space the floor. Good news is that might already be on the roster.

Team needs to really get into TM3 and Hayes heads that they have to get physically stronger this off-season. TM3 and Hayes 10-15lbs of good weight would do so much for this team. Both have shown they function well as spacers (TM3 horizontally and Hayes vertically). I love both Jose and Kira, but with Dyson's development one may need to be moved. At that point, only a movement shooter (similar to CJ) needs to be acquired.

Despite the disappointment so far this year, folks need to keep in mind that we have a very young team (who are going to get better) sans Val,CJ, and Nance who are arguably in their prime. I would hate to see them sacrifice developing players that you can grow with for expediency. Something like

CJ/Dyson/(Jose or Kira)
BI/Acquired movement shooter
Herb/Naji
Zion @265/TM3 @225/Liddell
Hayes @ 230/Nance/Val
