What grain and fps y’all liking? Just got the tika and looking for a deer round in LA. Not trying to reach out further than 400 so don’t want anything that’s gonna run strait through a deer that far.

The 6.5 Creedmoor has never really been discussed here, maybe we’ll get some good responses as people explore the merits of this fine round.

You haven’t put a piece of merit on this board that I can recall. You just talk shite about anyone asking for opinions/help but don’t have the stones to put your own experiences and knowledge out there. Go to the politics board where people find opinions entertaining. Or even better, have an original thought.

I buy standard Hornady American Whitetail 129 grain and have had no issues. Just don't buy target ammo. 6.5cm gets a bad rap when guys shoot target loads at ridiculous distances and end up wounding deer.
Just about any 6.5 cm ammo that has a picture of a deer on the box will get it done from a reasonable distance with good shot placement.

I like the 130 to 140gr bullets. Lets you keep the speed up to take advantage of the 6.5 bullets.
Are you reloading or just buying factory loaded ammo?

The 6.5cm is a good round. Not some magical kiss of death that some think it is.
2 issues with it revolve around poor bullet choices.
people buy range ammo not designed for hunting.
people buy long range bullets that are designed to expand at slower speeds but shoot them 100 yards and in. Bullet explodes on impact and leaves no exit wound and no blood trail.
I prefer 140 grain. Nosler partition are great. I haven't used any but a 140 grain soft point would be a great round if you could find them.

I am somewhat confused, Is the O.P. referring to the famed "6.5 Cripplemore"?

Ah so are you here to tell me about section density and how that factors into a round selection? I use this rifle in the Midwest for long shots, but when trying to deer hunt in LA it’s obviously less than ideal (I did 3 deployment with the marines and put thousands of .308 rounds down range so it’s my first love). So tell me something about what I should select in the 6.5 CM to help it not cripple deer that won’t leave a blood trail? If your answer is it won’t, then just tell me it can’t be done and I’ll hold on you to grandpas Remington .270 and my bow for LA hunts.

You should see a couple of cold marines in the afghan desert if you think this is gay

Shooting Barnes Vor-tx ttsx 120 grain at 2910 fps
Should have decent expansion out to 400 as it starts to get sub 2000 fps after that range but we don’t have a shot over 200 so no problems there.

Could do either/both, just trying to hear about people’s real experiences.

i42 grain Berger VLD Lapua brass Just under 2700 FPS. Sub MOA groups at 200 yds with five shot groups. I have only stretched it out to 750 yds twice. Rig is a custom Rem 700 platform, Woox Chassis, Vortex Viper HST 6x24x50, Muzzle Brake, Unipod, Bubble Level and a few other extras.
Shooting off of a bipod front and sandbag rear. Unique thing about this rifle is the cold bore shot is usually dead on depending on wind. Great 200-300 yd gun. Need to upgrade the scope.

The new Barnes 115 grain tac-tx black tips look really promising. I have had great success with the 110 versions out of my 300 blackout I would expect even better from the higher velocities of the creedmoor. I have rollled 300+ lb hogs with them in the blackout out to 100 yds. The tac-tx has a lower opening velocity threshold that should produce some devastating wound cavities.

I see you’ve hunted antelope. What’d you like out there?
