My favorite seafood restaurant is shutting down - 1751 just south of the Heights.

LINK

The GM actually comped our meal last year. They had the best oysters and different kinds of fish. Never had a bad meal.

Am in search of a new one. Any recommendations?

La lucha for oysters. Eugene’s is great. Trulucks for carrot cake. There is field and tides but I’m not a huge fan.

Truluck's is solid for a chain. Still love that they do the off-menu all you can eat stone crab on Mondays when in season. Agree with F&T - very overrated.

Actually solid. Can be intimidating with some of the clientele but they do have fresh oysters/shrimp from their own boats. Excellent michiladas too.

That sucks. 1751 is one of the best in the city.

Field and Tides in the Heights is legit.

Navy Blue…my wife and I went there a few weeks ago…best meal I’ve had in Houston in a while.

Swordfish au poivre, bbq shrimp, risotto were some of the regular menu offerings we had that were standouts, we also had a lobster thermador that was on special that was incredible.

I was never all that impressed with Bludorn…however Navy Blue is everything Bludorn wants to be and more.

Going there Friday. Thanks for the info.

Agree re Bludorn. Big tab but wasn’t blown away.

Have you ever tried Marais in Dickinson?

I'm a fan of Eugene's. Only been there once, but very much enjoyed what we had and been meaning to go back.

I like Eunice as well, though my favorite thing there isn't even seafood. It's the tabasco honey fried quail.

Navy Blue also has arguably the best service at a restaurant I've been to in Houston

Agreed...service was impeccable.

Also recommend the basil boulevardier for a pre dinner cocktail or 5.

I've found that Bludorn has gotten better with time. It was always a good restaurant, just never felt like it matched the price you were paying. Went a couple weeks ago and left very impressed.

Also highly suggest sitting at the bar. One of the best bars to dine at in the city.
