Thinking of buying a (compact) camera

I'm looking for a "truck" camera. Something that will just stay in the truck for when I see something worth taking a picture of.
Biggest issue is having a true optical zoom and stabilization that is steps more capable than my Pixel 6.
Next it needs to have some kind of wireless image transfer that can get the pictures to my google backup quickly and easily.
And last I'd like for it to at least not feel so fragile that I'm constantly worried about it taking a small little bump along the way.
Cheaper the better, but I'm willing to spend what it takes.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Am I just looking in the wrong places, or does it seem like the camera market is completely stagnent and these big companies have just been making the same stuff for years now??

A couple of years ago, the FujiFilm XP waterproof cam would be perfect for what you'd want to do.
Unfortunately, it looks like they have stopped making them. If you could find a used one for cheap it might be worth picking up.

I just was shopping for a similar series camera to travel with, and the eBay bid for a used Olympus TG-5 is currently at $189. I'll just risk dropping my phone off a cliff.

Shopgoodwill Hit or Miss, but it's worth a chance.

Good camera phones have killed this market, and what's left is generally cheap (but fine) stuff that old people and preteens can have, and expensive, nice enthusiast p&s/fixed lens (like Sony RX and Fuji X100 lines).

Sony RX
Have an RX100 mk2. Thinking about upgrading to a newer one. That little thing is a beast and I’ve taken some awesome pictures that I’ve made enlargements of.

I've got an RX100 m3 and it's great. I usually keep it in the glove compartment of my car.

Got any makes/models for the cheap ones I can search for on eBay?

How much zoom are you looking for? I haven't bought one in years but I liked the Panasonic Lumix "travel zoom" series which put big zoom and image stabilization in a traditional point and shoot footprint. It looks like the current models are the LUMIX ZS100K (10X zoom) and LUMIX ZS200DK (15x zoom).
If you can live with a smaller 3X or 4X zoom, I'd look at the waterproof tough cameras considering you're planning to just leave it in the truck.
