Heavily protected 1st

And they added 3 starters and Bamba who has his strengths

Now their pick is worthless

Remember when the Pelicans had the same Julius Randle that just pushed their shite in and let him walk to the Knicks for $20mm/year and all he has done is keep averaging 20+,10, and 5 ever since.

And how do you see Zion and Randle meshing

Can Randle defend 5s?

There are posters in this board that talked themselves out of him

Easy…Randle plays and Zion sits on the bench and giggles so it works fine.

They can't coexist together, too redundant

But a guy can dream about a lineup of

Dyson
Trey
Ingram
Zion
Randle

Just to see what the frick can happen

So an amount we could not come close to offering him, what should we have done?

Also, he's not a very good basketball player.

Julius Randle might not be a 1 on a championship team, but he is a very good basketball player.

He just made his 2nd all star team (same amount as Jrue Holiday). When you make an all star team, you are essentially a top 5% player in the league.

He also plays damn near every game. There is value in a Julius Randle type player even if he isn’t perfect.

He's a net negative basketball player at his salary.

People also never seem to understand we couldn't offer him any where near what he got so why are we even talking about him with the Pelicans?

I normally agree with your takes, but this makes no sense. Randle is a 2 time All Star, has played more games than any Pel with a 25/10/4 split, leading a likely playoff bound team on a contract that’s $10mm under the max and less than BI, Zion, CJ (and virtually everyone else on the 2023 all star team that wasn’t on a rookie scale…excepting only Sabonis and Markkanen).

He had a reputation for being a ball hog and bad at defense, but we’ve seen that same claim thrown at all three of our guys on max contracts.

Randle is positively geared with respect to his contract
