I don't listen to pop music because it sucks, but with all the controversy around this one, I gave it a listen.
I can't get it out of my head now.
It's actually a good song, for that genre.
I like the Phrygian mode. Nobody ever does Phrygian anymore, especially in pop.

Sam Smith has quite a few good songs. I listen to current pop often. Yeah, a lot of it is bad, but that's been true for pop music for decades.

I listened to the lyrics, it's about a guy who cheats on his GF by going out to Eyes Wide Shut types of sex parties, and the song shames him for living a lie. That's where the imagery of the video comes from. Stanley Kubrick stuff.

Objectively It’s a good catchy pop song. The chordal arrangements and beat are well done. Pop music isn’t something I really listen to but the song definitely is different.

Ive gotten the song in my head a couple of times and hit my head against the nearest hard wall and it went away.
