With Carr being released from the Raiders, we can now acquire him at a non-astronomical price. If we signed him to a short 1-2 year deal, what is the big issue? He is a step up from Dalton and Jameis, and, if things don't work out, we can have a real shot at Hendon Hooker next year.

I know Moscona hates this idea, but I think he is missing the point. We are not trading for Carr. We are now longer giving up "capital" besides a generic salary in a 1-2 year contract. Thoughts? I love Moscona, but I think he is completely wrong here.

Matt tGOAT was against giving up an asset to acquire Carr and his monster contract

He’s perfectly fine with signing Carr as a free agent as long as it’s a team friendly deal

How long did it take you to come up with this title, Jon Diden?

I promise that if we sign Carr, people here with bitch about the price. I'd bet the fate of the planet right now. Doesn't matter what it is.

You do know that Grandpa Hooker is draft eligible right now, right? And he's not going as high as most think.

You do realize you cannot force a player to sign with a team. Carr is not signing anywhere for a low price for 1-2 years. Can it be worked out so the cap hit is low up front; absolutely, it's the Mickey special. But, what is the cap impact down the road when Carr is averaging $30-35M a year?

Also, the advantage of trading for Carr is the team could have worked a sign & trade deal with the Raiders so the Raiders eat some of that contract. Sure, you don't lose the draft capital, but you are now 100% responsible for whatever contract figures you negotiate.

You do realize that Carr isn't going for $30-35M a year anymore. I project that he would sign for $15-20M to touch tips with Dennis Allen again. They were a good fit in Oakland and Carr will not ask for the price tag. I think it could be a home run pickup.

What's this based on? He played like half a season under Allen.

Based on the market, he's going to make minimum $30MM per year. That would place him at 14th on the current list before Burrow, Hurts, Tua, and Herbert get paid in the coming years and he'll tumble down to around 20th.

Can't imagine he plays for less than 25 million. I don't know what people think QB's are getting paid these days.

I just bet the owner of the Browns is the most hated by the others for that Watson contract

Yeah 25M would be bottom of the barrel. I’d imagine it’s going to be in the 30s.

$15M makes him the 15th highest paid QB in 2023
$20M makes him the 12th

$30M would have him as the 10th highest
$35M would put him at 8th.

And these rankings are before Lamar gets his deal. Garoppolo, Baker, Daniel Jones are all also out there and could affect how far some of those rankings will fall. If Burrow gets his extension (Bengals are reportedly working on it), that'll be another spot down.

For those 4 games before DA was fired for performance?

If Moscona hates it, it'll probably work.
