I can only gather I got it from recently spending a lot of time practicing pitching and chipping.
Pain on outside of elbow makes it difficult to hit golf shots.
Anyone ever had experience with this and knows a successful treatment?

Very painful cortisone shot. Ice often. Good stretches. No heavy lifting for 4-6 weeks. Wear brace when playing.

I had it really bad on the inside of my elbow. Rest, ice and NSAIDs. Also I found wrapping it with an ace bandage helped as well.

Have no idea if this is true but I heard if it is pain is on inside of elbow it is golfer's elbow and if on outside of elbow it is tennis elbow.

3 Aleve pills each morning for about two weeks helps, but does not cure.

There is a little foam bar you can buy and do exercises with… forget what it’s called… but it works wonders

Pads and Straps help while playing.

But a steroid shot is the only thing that knocks it out fast and completely.

I bet that I have had 20 of them over the years.

If you get the shot, wait a full week before playing

If it knocks it out completely why have you had to have 20 shots over the years?

Knocks it out for the moment and it may last for a year or more.

But you can always injure it again.

The shot kill the inflammation at the time.

I have never been gentle with my body, which may explain 11 broken bones, fusions, surgeries and TKR's.

I got tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) from golf also. Hopefully, your course of healing is shorter than mine was. There are many treatments for it, which means that none of them work all the time. I tried ice, rest, stretching, strengthening, steroid shots, fresh frozen plasma injections. Had surgery after 2 years, when I couldn’t hold a pen normally or shake hands. It took another 6 months to heal. I can play golf without a problem from it, but every now and then, when I feel some pain, I shut down whatever I’m doing.

My advice would be to avoid doing anything that makes the pain worse. If you have to play golf with it, use the forearm band. It lessens the stress on the inflamed tendon. While steroids do help knock out the pain initially, there is at least one study that shows that chance of recurrence increases some with steroid injections.

Sorry for the long, somewhat pessimistic reply. I will say that I’ve yet to meet anyone whose tennis elbow was as bad as mine. Hopefully, your recovery will be quick.

I was once waiting to catch da bus next to the local muni golf course here in Laffy...while waiting I noticed many golf balls in the nearby bushes. Being a kid that liked to practice chipping at home and occasionally hit drivers into the nearby fields I filled 2 pockets full of used balls. When I got on da bus I was seated across from a lil ole lady that immediately started staring at my bulging pockets as if something was wrong with me..I sensed she was curious about my condition..I blurted out that I had golf balls...she was startled and retorted...does that hurt as much as tennis elbow....your tennis/golf elbow will heal with rest, ice and a tennis elbow brace tight around your forearm just below the elbow. Take 2-3 advil/aleeve 3 times a day!

I've had tendonitis in several locations in the past - elbow, wrist, foot and I always go in and get a cortisone shot and it's gone is a day or two. And, I go right back to golf as soon as I get the shot. I used to try all of the wraps, bands, ice, pain meds, etc... and you go several weeks doing that crap and then it doesn't work. No sense waisting time. Just get the shot and move on.

I have way too much familiarity with tennis elbow. Have had it on both elbows and fought it off and on for about a decade. Please trust me when I say …. Just say no to cortisone. It only masks the pain and actually slows the healing process.

To truly solve the problem, I would recommend a regimen of friction massage and stretching. Thera-band is a good tool to help in this process. The tendons get very little blood flowing to them, so the healing will be slow and gradual. Time and patience are your friend.

If you feel good enough to play or hit balls, you can wear a compression strap on the tendon, just below where the pain is, to relieve the stress to the joint upon impact.

I had it once and it lasted about a year and half. Finally, woke up one day and it didn't hurt. Same thing with plantar's in my feet. Hurt like hell some days and then one day, it was a miracle, and stopped hurting.
