when i was 6 or 7 in the late 80s i locked my grandmother outside her house and laughed at her through the door. thought it was the funniest thing
this woman was a 5'0 70 yo woman who weighed 80 lbs soaking wet. but she also grew up through the depression in Odessa Texas married to an alcoholic oil field worker and raised 8 boys.
when i finally had the good sense to let her in, she slapped me upside the head and knocked me over. then she threw me outside and grabbed a stick and straight up Singapore caned my arse.
when i went back home and told my dad he said "bet you won't do that again."
and i did not.

It wasn’t mine. A lady that’s was like an Aunt to my mom was watching us while my parents were out of town.
Me and her ( adopted) son decided to slide down the steps on a mattress.
When we hit the bottom she was waiting with broom.
She beat that kid like Rodney King. I will never forget. I slid off while she was distracted. F-that.

When I was 13 or 14, I flipped my dad off. I didn't know it, but he'd seen me. He was drunk, and he snuck up behind me with the belt and gave me a beating I'll never forget. And I never flipped him off again.

My dad was a pretty big guy and always scary to us but I don't really remember if we got whipped with a belt. If we acted up in a store, he would give us "the look" and if that didn't work, a pinch or a slap on the back of the head. Bad grades and acting up at school resulted in being punished for two weeks. That meant, coming home and doing homework, eat supper, bathe and go to bed. No TV, radio, toys, video games, playing outside, etc. No leniency on that two weeks and if you were caught doing any of those things you were punished from, tack on an extra week. My older brother was punished for two months straight at one point.
When he got really fed up, he would tell you to go outside and kneel on the gravel driveway. Facing the road so everyone could see and we had to wave at every car passing by.

When I became old enough that it did not hurt much (or at least I was better at hiding it), and so Dad gave up and I was never spanked again.
