It's 2023, you can't be critical of anything a female POC does.

I did like her shoutout to her makeup brand, which is fabulous.

She hadn't performed live in six, almost seven years now. And she was pregnant.

I'm sure it was a big moment for her fans, at least. I liked what I saw..she got up and sang, there wasn't an overload of guest stars or politics. Just Rhianna singing all of her hits.

You could have done a lot worse for a halftime show. I think we can all agree on that.

For the sake of intellectual honesty - Karaoke indicates singing. She did not sing at all. She lip-synced about half the lyrics, and just ignored the other half.

Gotta say, I was pretty surprised to see people actually singing live on Miley’s New Years thing. I feel like I haven’t seen any musical act actually sing on tv in forever.

There was a band and backup vocals on stage. How much the viewers heard them actually playing/singing is debatable.

All you're doing here is confirming your "I'm so edgy for not liking popular things" shtick. Really edgy stuff.

If that's "edgy" to you, you must lead a pretty bland life...

They hyped that shite up for weeks and they presented a woman singing to music tracks... I can go to Cat's Meow for that...

I guess it's the musician in me, I'd rather see a live band play.

I know they all have to lip sync, but she was very half assed about even trying to match the words.

Lady Gaga and The Weeknd did NOT lipsync.

People really don't appreciate how well that dude can sing live b/c he's written off as a pop/rap star.

This thread would make more sense if the lip syncing etc was unexpected. Everyone knows it's pre-recorded. It's been that way for years/decades. Making this thread every year makes you look like an idiot.

Gaga did for a little bit, but not the whole show. She sang most.I think parts where she flew around? I don’t totally remember.

I guess everyone is scared of a black eyed peas moment.

But once again, I just expected more. It was boring.

You're half right. There is a pre-recorded rehearsal in the event of major malfunctions. The show is still performed live.

And several recent artists have incorporated little to no help from vocal tracks during the halftime show.

There's a backing track that drives the entire performance with vocals. They record it during their rehearsals leading up to the game.
