My county courthouse in Oklahoma still has a Confederate Soldier memorial and Oklahoma didn't become a state until 1907.
And it's sure as shite not southern. To me, southern states have a higher percentage of African American population. All southern states have been heavily influenced by blacks over the centuries.
Texas fits western way more than southern.

This is the most accurate statement on this thread. People won’t admit it but blacks heavily influenced and still influence southern culture. So much of what people love about southern food, music and sports would not exist without the influence of black people.
That being said, here again Texas is slightly southern. There’s a decent population. I’d say 65% southwestern still.
