Dude we’re talking about the name on a basketball court, in the grand scheme of things that’s completely meaningless. There’s got to be millions of examples of dirty politics that are far far worse it is a state where multiple governors have gone to jail
Its not about a name on a court. The names on the court issue is just a symptom of a bigger problem. Its about powerful progressive Louisiana politicians using their political influence on the governor to get a measure that was voted down through the proper channels, passed through anyway bc its their agenda. Not sure how so many LSU fans are caught up in the issue of who deserves their name on the court and dont see how this is the issue. What if Mary Werner wanted to name Tiger Stadium after George Floyd and the board voted it down but she pressured JBE to push it through. We have a board that votes for a reason and Mary Werner, like a typical democrat doesnt think voting matters and wants her agenda passed anyway. A board is made up of people with diverse views and interests and they vote on things to happen so peoples interests, that arent the majority cant just be forced on LSU.

quote:That's exactly what all of this is about. If Gunter's name weren't about to be added to the basketball court then no Brando, Vitale, etc... would not be talking about politics and LSU basketball at the same time.
Its not about a name on a court.
quote:What if Werner wanted to name Tiger Stadium after Charlie McClendon? The problem with your analogy is that Gunter is as qualified as Brown. There is no reality in which naming a court after Gunter equates to naming Tiger Stadium after George Floyd. If you're truly worried about politics and not whether Brown's name is on the court then you've picked a weak example to plant your flag on.
What if Mary Werner wanted to name Tiger Stadium after George Floyd and the board voted it down but she pressured JBE to push it through.
If Brown is so insulted that LSU would have him share the naming of LSU's court with Gunter then perhaps he should ask the school to remove his name.

Yea, I tired to convey this but you summed it up nicely. I alluded to Werner with my first post in this thread.

Very well said.
Frankly, I don't really care if Gunter's name is on the court. She's probably as qualified as Dale to have that "honor". But the bigger issue is capitulating ONE person's own personal agenda.
