Poor context.

Tech has been on a downhill slide for months now, was his decision so bad that it impacted the entire tech sector?

TSLA (20% growth for the week) is now outpacing NASDAQ (4% growth for the week).

GM and Ford are both down about 40% YOY. Comparing auto manufacturers seems more reasonable than comparing an auto manufacturer to Amazon or Microsoft or Apple.

I've seen people argue that Tesla is a tech company and other people argue that Tesla is an automotive company.

If Tesla is indeed an automotive company, it's massively overvalued compared with other automotive companies.

GM is down 27% from the 27th of January 2022 to 27th of January 2023.

Ford is down 33.5% from the 27th of January 2022 to 27th of January 2023.

In any case, I don't think Tesla's stock performance has been particularly good over the past year whether you benchmark it to automakers or tech companies.

I have done a 180 in regards to my opinion of the man!

He is a damn genius!! I don’t care or agree with EV’s being the future but the man is above everybody else!

Props to him!

GM is down 26% from a year ago. Same as Amazon.

Slashing the prices caught everyone off guard, and you combine that with superior profit margins and the worldwide manufacturing reach they have, the stock is going to keep going up. Will it get back to 300? Who knows? I wouldn't bet against him, though.

I don't think people really have an appreciation for how far ahead Tesla is in the EV market and perhaps more importantly in the self driving capability market which will be big in the future
Maybe so, but their cars all look like design rejects from the 1990's. I dislike many things about them. I hate the big screen, I dislike not having info I want to see in front of my steering wheel, I dislike the interiors, I dislike the regenerative braking and I dislike 30-50 minute waits at charging stations.

No contest as far as I'm concerned. Both are EV SUV's in the same/similar price class. (The Caddy starts around 60k)

Exactly. For the price they charge, the Caddy has the looks to go with it. I feel the same way about the interior of the Mach-E Mustang.

I found it interesting in a video posted showing Musk leaving a Tesla plant, when the Twitter takeover was going down, that it was a fleet of Escalades hauling him and his people.

Tesla is down 40% compared with the broader NASDAQ-100 benchmark being down 14%. Companies like Microsoft and Amazon are down 17% and 26% respectively. Apple is only down -9% which is frankly amazing and a testimony to how good of a CEO Tim Cook is. So Tesla is objectively doing much worse than a list of comparable companies considering: a) The tech benchmark is down 14%. b) Tesla is down 40%. c) The SP500 index is down 6% if we compare it to 500 top companies.

Most car companies are down 30-40% YTD.

Tesla up 12% today. Back up to 171. Like I said, wouldn't bet against him.

I thought Elon was practically broke because he can't make good decisions.

Is Twitter even running? I was told a month ago that Twitter was about to go dark because he fired so many critical people.
