Yeah we received a gallon of chicken & sausage and a gallon of seafood gumbo to take home after a party and man both were actually very good for a restaurant.

Their crabmeat shrimp Bienville is legit... and their whole flounder is huge. They used to do 1/2 off all of their oysters (raw, chargrilled, Duke'd up) on Mondays... not sure if they still do

Downvotes on every post, lol. Someone doesn’t like dukes. Why don’t you contribute to the conversation and tell us what you don’t like about it. Let’s discuss it.

IMHO Duke’s is by far the best seafood restaurant in the area. All the aforementioned food is truly excellent, and his crawfish bisque and étouffée are worth a mention. Interestingly, his steaks are also superb. I was there Friday and ordered a dozen fried oysters. I got about 18 because some were smallish. Light crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Nice!

Duke ran the Don’s on Airline for years, as did his daddy before him. His cousins pushed him out after he refused the cookie cutter approach they were instituting at all the Don’s. He refused to take certain items off the menu because he had loyal customers who always ordered those dishes. He rebelled at the notion of charging for hush puppies (which he now serves for free in his two restaurants).

His restaurant near I-12 has had to have put a dent in the income of the Denham Don’s.
