Y’all are so god damned pathetic imagine begging for Will Wade and only Will Wade back after his years of average, underperforming teams and the dumb shite he did to put us in this position. How about we get a coach who’s actually good if McMahon doesn’t improve

Like Pitino or Self or Pearl or any of the other coaches who’ve done worse?

Pearl did get a show cause for much less and was out of coaching for years because of it. Petino was also fired at Louisville for what he did. Why did you pick those two as examples?

Well, Woodward knew there was no way LSU could survive that kind of NCAA pounding. So he had to fire Wade.

Wrong, he had a choice.

Talking about Pearl at Auburn and Pitino didn’t get a show cause.

It’s fricking crazy here. At least the Miles and O defenders had SEC and National Titles to fall back on. What did Will Wade actually accomplish? He rebuilt the program from bad to pretty good. A few nice regular seasons. He made the tournament three times and promptly got bounced twice. A couple of good runs in the SEC Tourney. Better than average recruiting. Did I miss anything?

The standards for basketball at LSU are a joke.

What has Pearl done at Auburn that would have gotten him fired.

Yet an elite basketball program fired him all the same.

Pearl learned his lesson and got a fall guy.

Pitino was fricking untouchable after Louisville. The NBA wouldn’t even look at him. He had to go to Greece for two years. The only job he could get when he came back was Iona. He’s not the best example.

You’re both missing the point of the post. Msutiger said Wade was getting a show cause, I pointed out examples of other guys who got into serious trouble and didn’t. It isn’t any more complicated than that. I’ve never said we shouldn’t have fired Wade, I said we didn’t have to hire McMahon. I even said it in this thread.

Well, they used to be. Made the tournament once since they fired Pitino. Weird coincidence, I’m sure.

He probably will. Do you honestly think he won’t at this point?

Pearl has before. It was a poor example. Pearl also wasn’t paying people out of his own personal bank account and wasn’t telling the NCAA to frick off. He fired the coach involved immediately and sat the players involved the rest of the season. Wade made the university suspend him and wouldn’t even cooperate with LSU’s internal investigation, much less the NCAA’s.

Petino was put on leave immediately in 2017 and later fired. He spent the 17-18, 18-19, and 19-20 seasons out of college basketball. He, like Pearl and unlike Wade, did not personally provide payments from his own personal bank account. Wade probably could have survived the wire tap leak, but that other shite was so god damned stupid I can’t believe people still defend him and wonder why we had to fire him. Once those bank transactions were released, Wade was done here. He knew it too.

(Petino is a massive POS as a human being, like big time, but comparing what he and Wade did in the context of the NCAA are not the same)

Wade being average by winning the SEC in year 2. Making a Sweet 16. Never finishing outside the top 5 in the SEC Regular Season (after year 1)

Taking the worst team in program history to an SEC title in year 2.

Making 5 Straight post-season tourneys and yes I count Covid because we were 100% in.

Completely average

Also brought us to the SEC Title game which hadn't been done in 30 fricking years.

Grow up

They made 7 FFs and won 2 national titles before he ever got there too. But I guess a few season sample size is a better indicator of their place in history. I’m sure their 5 year NCAA investigation, which wasn’t settled until recently, had nothing to do with them struggling as a program

You keep saying before and I keep having to tell you that’s not what I meant. You deflect from what I said about Pitino and you added made up sanctions that haven’t happened to Wade. I dunno why you insist on building these straw men, they have nothing to do with what I posted.
