The State of GA

The real reason why UGA has had a big advantage in the SEC is only in a small part because of Smart. Compare this with any state before talking about the coach at any SEC school:
1. Numerous HS recruits within the state.
2. Large population of the State
3. Competitive athletic High Schools within large metropolitan schools. Not always the case in bigger schools in some states.
4. Many Large HS within the state.
5. Majority of University enrollment are in-state students. Easy to have good athletes to stay in state with other enrollment.
6. Large number of HS coaches within the state of the most recruits support the home University.
Florida and Texas are the only states who are on par with the state of GA, but there are many other schools within those states. UGA has GA Tech, but they don't seem to care about Football. Smart is a factor and has enough NIL money to draw good athletes, but location of the great HS to UGA is the biggest factor. See how it was for UGA in the past.
Money by some SEC school supporters need to push GT in the future. It doesn't help their school, but it helps to reduce UGA.

As soon as GA flipped blue they got good at football. I wonder what the poli board thinks about this.

So UGA just wins its own championships, the staff is just along for the ride?

Majority of our recruits are not from GA.

Oh boy, this is some kind of melt.

It helps, but UGA recruits nationally.
RB1 - Kenny M - From Florida
WR1 - AD Mitchell from Tenn
TE#1 - Bowers - California
TE#2 - Darnell W - Nevada
Same idea for defense. Some starters from GA, but good amount is from outside GA.
If you look at a place like metro Atlanta, its truly a melting pot. We have so many families from from Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina that retains their college fanhood

And yet Auburn exists in the same state as the most powerful dynasty the world has ever seen, so maybe geography isn’t the problem.

Ah yes. Because I distinctly remember UGA winning multiple championships before Smart arrived.

It also helps that Mark Richt built a very good program that Kirby then took to the next level. Saban and Heupel inherited pure dumpster fires. I’m not saying that to take away from Kirby, he’s a great coach. Always had a lot of respect for Mark Richt

If GEORGIA Tech and Georgia State merged they could put up a football team to battle UGA

I love how "Kirby Can Recruit but he can't coach" quickly pivots to "Coaching doesn't matter and UGA recruits itself" after Kirby gets two natties.
You people.

If it has very little to do with Smart, why didn't we win much sooner? Those advantages have been evident for awhile but we never won before...well #1980.

Georgia high school recruits are also the kind of players where games are won...linemen and linebackers. Loads of skill players in Texas...can't find a lineman in the state.

Yes this is why Richt was fired for winning 9-10 games every season. There’s no excuse for not bringing in elite in state a talent and winning multiple national championships.

The state of Beorgia is much more too heavy with too 150 recruits next year and I think you’ll see UGA take many of those.

Richt had the same advantages but went w/out a SECC for 10 years and was routinely out recruited by Bama,LSU and
Florida the 2nd half of his tenure.

Maybe if AU were even slightly relevant, your coach could pull some decent 3 star talent from GA
