And you have Squire Creek 10 minutes out of town and it may be the nicest Country Club in the state

A private country club isn't something for your every day person to go to. I'm not saying there isn't anything to do in Ruston as a whole or it isn't a nice place to live. But there isn't anything that you can do in Ruston that isn't exactly like most towns in Louisiana.

"there isn't shite to do there unless you are a college student"

I don't think anyone is saying it's some mecca, but Ruston today is not early 2000's Ruston. They have become more business friendly, have a reputation in the retail and service industries as being one of the better markets per capita for revenue (even if we are talking about chains). They have one of the largest legal marijuana farms in the south. The Enterprise initiative between LTU and some major firms has created some very good jobs for the area. They just built a top notch multi-sport complex. Have done some great work on the city and parish parks including the green trail they are continuing to expand.

Safety, business, sports, outdoors... it may not be the best, but like I stated it's progressed over the last two decades as other towns around the state have mostly remained stagnant or regressed.
