Big 12 stronger than the SEC?

Watching college football this year, and living in Texas, I'm forced to watch more big 12 games than when I was in La. But I have to say I think the Big 12 with the exception of Florida is slightly better than the SEC this year. Thoughts please.

Top 3rd of the Big 12 is better than the SEC this year. Too many new QB's in the SEC, and some very talented QB's in the Big 12.

Well Mcoy has already said he is going to stay, Chase Daniels is a Senior I believe but not thought of as a top 5 pick. And Bradford is also a Junior isn't he?

I think that many of the Big 12 defenses are suspect, but that is the style of football they play. I'm not sure that their high powered offenses would match up very strong against some of the better defenses in the SEC. That being said, overall the Big 12 is the conference to beat this year.

I guess you think they're better because they score a lot of points......... against each other?

I live in TX too, so I feel your pain. I do disagree, however, that the Big 12 is stronger than the SEC. Georgia's offense is as good or better than any in the Big 12. It is certainly more balanced. The difference is defense. All SEC schools have good defenses, so it's hard to judge SEC offenses, but I do believe that most SEC schools have a better balance of offense and defense and are, therefore, better teams. Florida is a better team than Tech, Alabama is a better team than Texas, Georgia may even be a better team than Oklahoma, and LSU is better than any other team in the Big 12. We're not talking landslides, but even in a somewhat down year the SEC is stronger at the top and across the board.

Defense just seems like an afterthought in the Big-12. Weak secondaries, lack of blitzing, passive defenses overall. But offensively, they're the top dogs: they have three or four teams with offenses as good as the best in the SEC (UF).

I think that it's really hard to say. Florida is, IMHO, the best team out there right now. Aside from that, it really is hard to gauge how good a conference is based entirely on in-conference games. With that said, I would give the edge at this point in the season to the Big 12 because I think that the defenses in the SEC aren't as dominant across the board as they are in most years (although they're still better than most).
