Nuss understands how the position should be played.
Yeah, carelessly.

Lol. You’re calling the 2007 team a 2 qb team? RP played minimally and Flynn was legit The Guy! God this place is awful!
RP played in 12 games in 2007. He was used as a change of pace. here are his stats:
51-75
68.0%
694 yards
8 TD's 2 ints

It was clear that Daniels was the third best QB behind Nussmeier and Brennan by the end of the spring. Next thing you know, Kelly is talking about Daniels and Nuss battling for the QB1 spot and Brennan taking the train. Then Nuss hurts his ankle in practice and the "competition" is over, despite claims it was too close to call. No one had a shot at that QB1 spot except Jayden Daniels because he is Brian Kelly's guy, and not a hold-over from the previous coach or a true freshman. JD was gifted the job.
Is it really that hard to believe that a guy that was on campus for 2 months would be behind the guys that have been with the program for at least a year then that guy who has been a starting QB for 3 years would eventually pass them up in time?

Most people on the Nussmeier train don’t comprehend this. They don’t understand that it takes time to learn plays and expectations from coaches, hot routes, play changes at the line, etc etc…..it doesn’t fit the argument they want..

year that can make a run at the SEC, CFP, AND is returning nearly the entire offense? LSU is the only one I can think of.
I wish that all mattered but in the real world it’s about money to play both in college and in the nfl.
If he can start for a team that isn’t a champion, he can show case his ability and likely get NIL money and then get drafted and get financial security for life.

With that said, I now think we lose Howard, unless he or his family is just dead set on him following his dad as an LSU QB. Nuss will be the starter before the season is have over next year imo. He has a huge upside. JD has peaked.

but some of you really overrate what he is at this point.
I think you mean Danels.

Today, with the transfer portal and NIL, why in the world would Nussmeier want to wait a year with hopes of playing in 2023 and being the starter in 2024? Why would he not want to transfer and start immediately at another SEC school? You hear former players saying that they would rather have been a starter at a G5 school than 2nd/3rd in line at a P5 and hardly see the field. Nuss has the ability to transfer laterally and start. He's gone before spring...

Because he loves being at LSU. He’ll be here for spring.

One of his biggest coaches jobs is keeping this trio alive

That gives him two weeks. If he’s leaving before Spring, we’d probably have heard it by now.

So what position group do you coach for the LSU Tigers?

Daniels is QB1 right now, and I don't think Nussmeier can do much to change that.
Then why wait?
If what you are saying is true, then he should leave now.

After spring they can still decide to transfer which 100% chance one of them will.
And why would they do that deer in the headlights syndrome?? Nuss throws picks every 10 throws. Howard looked like a true freshman. If they transfer those things go away magically???

I was thinking that myself during the game.
I don't want to see an every other series platoon or an obvious run/pass combo, but they both bring different skills to the position and give the offense extra energy.
I loved JD's enthusiasm for Nuss' big plays. I also though JD was more explosive after each rest than if he played every down.
I think Nuss has taken the situation like a man and has made the most of his opportunities.
I thought both played great against Purdue, though Nuss seriously needs to take better care of the ball.
This season, Nuss got picked off four times in 84 attempts, or nearly 4.8%. In contrast, JD threw just three picks in 388 attempts, or a little under 0.8%.
