Any white person who says any variation of the “N” word is either (1) ignorant (2) racist or (3) both

Any person who “can’t understand” the difference btwn a white person using the “N” word and a Black person using that word ….it’s being overtly obtuse

There I said it

Many see this as a blatant double standard. A fluid moral standard and situational ethic.

FTR, I know the double standard exists. Not being obtuse. But that doesn't make things morally right. God hates unjust scales.

A guy who capitalizes "Black" person but doesn't capitalize "white" person is lecturing the rest of us on being obtuse about the use of racist language.

Can you be anymore of a hypocrite? There I said it.

If it’s so bad that you will destroy somebody then the word needs to be completely banned. I mean a HS QB was singing a rap song. Somebody tweeted it and he lost his scholarship to Florida…..singing a rap song. Not saying it to anyone. Just singing!

The thoughts of someone unable to really think.

What makes a person “white?” How do you know that persons genetic makeup?

How black should someone be in your simplistic unmanageable system to be granted leniency? Brown paper bag system or do you have a better color scale we should use?

How black is Sage? He looks kinda white to me.

You've suffered enough the past 24 hours so not trying to pile on. But a few comments to clarify why your stated views lead me to cognitive dissonance.

(1) If I understand the etymology of the word it was first used as a derogatory term by whites toward blacks. But in time, if a black person wanted to really insult another black person, they would co-opt the term and speak the whites' insult themselves. The ultimate insult. Cold hearted betrayal.

The word has almost fallen out of disuse among whites but apparently its use is prevalent and accepted among blacks. So does the word still mean what first did? Seems like it can't possibly mean that or else blacks wouldn't be saying it.

(2) As another poster noted, a non-black person could be blaring music with the term heard loud-n-clear. No problem. But park the vehicle and stop the music, and continue to sing the lyrics and now you're ignorant and/or racist?

In most contexts apart from parody, when one person sings the songs of an artist, it is rightly considered being favorably disposed. And artists appreciate when fans sing their songs. But in the situation described above, not so? Listen to but no sing out?

(3) If Mason Taylor (LSU TE whose dad is NFL HoF'er Jason Taylor (black) and whose mom is Zach Thomas's sister (white)) played the tennis player or Sage Ryan, how would you adjudicate?

None of this makes any sense to me.

FTR1: I'm not suggesting Sage be disciplined by LSU. It was bad sportsmanship. But penalize it on the field.

FTR2: for me personally I have no desire to use terms that would be perceived as insulting by another period. So no, I'm not advocating for using slang.

FTR3: LSU's Admin is in a pickle.
