A couple that lives in Ventress lost everything in a fire last night. He works for the state police and she works for a church in St Francisville. Kind and generous couple in their sixties that will be rebuilding their lives I know this is a generous community so I thought I would share their go fund me in case anyone is able to contribute. If a post like this isn’t allowed I understand if it is taken down. If it is allowed and you can share the link on your social media that would be much appreciated.

Last one of these to go up was a huge scam. Going to be tough going with this crowd after that.

Except it does if written properly….

Totally understand skepticism. Family and friends I’m sure will get them going with what they need. Just want them taken care of so thought I would share. But social media sharing will be more effective. I get that.

If any of the news outlets reports anything on it I will share for credibility. But with no one injured or worse it may not have any coverage

I am going to be brutally honest. I do not donate to gofundme. Call me an a-hole or whatever, but I donate to situations in which I knew the people, but there are a lot of unfortunate stories and there are scammers. I like to know what I donate goes directly to the cause.

Thanks. That’s the house. There are pics on the Pointe Coupee fire district 3 Facebook page. Got some great support today from people I shared this with on my social media. And they have a place to stay provided by their church in st Francisville.
It’s too bad people that scam and take advantage of people that are facing real hardships.

That was that StarTrek clown from Alabama. His was easy to spot from the start.

This is absolute bullshite. Insurance from a fire covers your personal property and your building. There are significant other coverages built into policies to cover things like extra housing expenses and meals out.
Only once have I ever given to anyone after a house fire. Two months later he was telling me how much money he got from the insurance company and they were going to rebuild with some serious remodels. His house ended up being beautiful and way nicer than before it burned down and he had all brand new stuff.
Yes, it is tragic when you lose some of your memorabilia and heirlooms. That sucks and you can’t replace this but insurance minus their deductible will cover all their expenses.

They may not have had a replacement cost policy on this house. If they did, then you would be mostly correct.

Didn’t burn to the ground, the structural damage was approximately 60% of the total home value, contents were close to a total loss.
State Farm stepped up mightily, we used a warranted contractor recommended by them, were paid dislocation money immediately, and had as great of an experience as possible following a casualty loss.
Obviously I don’t know the specifics of these folks’ loss but compared to Hurricane claims, fire claims are generally handled very fairly (per the policy conditions & limits) by insurance companies.
