Creation by destruction. Sometimes the forest has to burn away All the dead wood to allow something better to thrive. Clearing the area out is the only way to save it from the greater rot that destroyed it.
People aren’t celebrating poor renters losing their stuff. But how many times did we hear during the mostly peaceful riots “they have insurance”?
None of us caused the fire. But let’s not pretend that area is anything but a violent craphole. It’s a shame, I had friends that lived there at various times in the past.
Had a young friend looking for an apartment recently and mentioned those apartments. I told him I’d slap the shite out of him if he thought about moving in there. They would have killed the poor kid. The only way to revitalize that area is gentrification, and the only way to accomplish that is for Tigerland to be razed and the slumlords driven out
Fixing a problem like that is never pretty, but what’s the alternative? Worsening crime and destruction and murder threatening LSU students?
You like it so much, you go live there.

Looks like I hit a nerve. I think some self reflection would be more appropriate than that pathetic response.

All the way down Alvin Dark really needs to be burned down also. Yeah I'm sure there are some decent people living in there but it really is a bad look for LSU having such a terrible area where a popular student hangout location is

I agree. Slumlords KILLED that area. You could see between. 2000-05 it going from students to section 8.
