Saban said he wasn't focused on the election because, "I don't get into politics," he said. He said he didn't even know who won until Wednesday morning, but added, "We were happy who won." LINK

Whatelse is he going to say? You think it would help with recruiting if he said he was not happy?
Posted on 11/6/08 at 7:48 am to Phat Bertman
It would not be good for recruiting to be upset that the first black president was elected.

obama wants a college football playoff. i don't blame him for being "glad". that being said, since obama's statement about a playoff on Monday, the idea has never gotten so much publicity.

There's the "change" he was talking about.

Guess he should be ready to "share" his millions ...

Saban has been noted as a democrat on several occasions. He refused to have dinner with President Bush when he was down in Miami, and, from personal experience, I was working for Vitter in '04, waiting with a group for him to land at the private airport in BR. The TAF plane landed right before him, and Saban got off. When he saw our Vitter signs, labels, etc. he made a comment about us supporting the wrong party.

Smart guy! One more reason to appreciate what he did at LSU!
Geaux Tigers, beat Bama!

No he didn't. He made it perfectly clear he doesn't discuss politics. He also said a lot of people voted for 'the other guy',so he would make a lot of people mad one way or the other if he commented.
Good grief.
Good grief.

He was also very supportive of the wife of a disgraced ex-Louisiana democratic Governor. Very, very supportive, if you know what I mean....

It's awesome when people start threads making people say whatever they want. Nice job ignoring what Saban said. What he said after he said he was happy with his new president was....
..."A lot of people voted for the guy that won. Also, a lot of people voted for the guy that lost. The way I see it I'd be upsetting a lot of people no matter what I say. I don't discuss politics."

Take all this crape to the Political board....

If you know Saban, you know he leans a little to the left in politics... although he rarely talks about it.

The man had Jesse Jackson here to talk to the team for inspiration. He could of had any number of Black leaders to speak to the Democrat or Republican. Having Jackson here means he had some agenda, Jackson is not a non-polarizing figure. So if you think it important to know your football coach's leanings; that says it all.
