“But what about Ron Desantis and his cards?” “Trump didn’t really mean the cards were a major announcement.” (even though he clearly labeled it as a major announcement). I knew he had an announcement, and you know what I did? I went on living my life until the next day. I saw the announcement earlier and said “cool, but cards are not my thing.” and kept scrolling like an alpha.

Since when has Trump ever been, in the...I don't know, 40 plus years he's been a very public figure, been ANYTHING but Trump? Do you think he would have been elected in 2016 if he WASN'T Donald Trump? Do you think he would continue to be a political power if he were anyone BESIDES Donald Trump? Do you think anyone would even know who the hell Ron DeSantis was if it weren't for Donald Trump?
It isn't about being a fan of Trump. It's about recognizing how much of an anomaly the man is. There ISN'T another one because DeSantis, Cruz, Paul...any of them do NOT EXIST if they weren't serving the beast. Trump's combination of immense ego, narcissistic personality, American nationalism and personal wealth are the only reason he said FU to the globalist status quo and placed tariffs on China, reformed trade deals, tried to pass tax reform, prison reform, pull out of endless middle east military entanglement. He's a stick in the cogs of a monstrous, evil machine. Not because he's a saint or a good or great man, it's because he's Donald Trump.

People moving on from Trump must happen organically; the more people push, attack, insult, attempt to force, the more people will dig in.
Moreover, there has to be someone on the Republican side that captures and motivates Trump defenders; that person has to speak and connect with them. And that person has to be different from the typical Republicans of the past. I think there is quite a sizable number of Trump voters that will simply refuse to return to the way things were in the Republican Party.

No, I’m not voting for Biden. I will vote for the best candidate and that most certainly won’t be Biden. If Trump is the nominee I vote for Trump. If Desantis is the nominee, I will vote for him. Ron is more electable, so I prefer it to be Ron. Trump can’t get out of his own way.
