This was an insult of a PPV. Final card of the year.
December cards used to be epic. I get it that this year is tough because Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve both fall on a Saturday. So they had to do the final card earlier than normal. But this was shite. Wow.

Score cards make no sense. All the judges had r1 to Jan, but one went with the 3rd to Ankalaev
Not sure 10-8 makes sense either. He won those rounds, but it wasn’t pulverizing

I thought state athletic commissions appointed/supplied judges. I think the fight promotions are at the mercy of the athletic commissions, aka government bureaucrats.

Jan basically didn't thro a strike at all in Rd 5. It wasnt a total pummeling, but it could have easily been 10-8. He basically was on his back the whole time.

Problem is bc the last 2 rounds were so dominant everyone remembers that. Round 2 was easy for Jan. I would have given magomed rd 1. And probably jan 3. But it isn’t crazy that the first 3 went to jan

What ufc always had going for it was that it was "clean" vs boxing.

Weird card all around. I think one problem is the ufc has been loading up the free cards more than they should at the detriment of vegas cards. That wonderboy card was better from top to bottom than this one. They did have some bullshite that changed this card up but regardless.

The live bet odds had Ankalaev -400 after round 4. He had a dominant round 5 and then gets a draw. The Odds don't like because oddsmakers have to protect themselves from bad lines.

Yeah, lot of dumb takes in this thread. The dumbest being that Dana White hired the judges, lol. The NSAC provides the judges for all fights in Nevada. Saul D’Amato has judged fights as long as I’ve been watching MMA. If you don’t know the sport, maybe don’t make big statements about it.
Also, do some of you actually think Dana White wanted to leave the belt in limbo and end the ppv year like this?? If you honestly believe that, you should just stop watching mma now because that’s a whole other level of stupid.

I just rewatched the decision. Even Jan put this right hand out palm up, pointing to Ankalaev before the last score card was announced. Ever after all that, Jan went over and to try and raise Ankalaev arm. Anklalaev deny it out of respect.
