Mine comes from the wonderful song, Do they know it's Christmas.

Sung by Bono in his prime:

"tonight thank God it's them, instead of You"

So much depth and emotion in this short verse that really captures the yule tide spirit

So, we’re being ironical?

How about this one:
“What if Jesus comes back like that
Two months early and hooked on crack”

"just for a moment I was back at school and felt that old familiar pain. And as I turned to make my way back home, the snow turned into rain."

“ Second thing on my list, guess what
It's a a really cute girl with a really cute butt
Mike said, "Krispy Kreme hold up
Mom said you're not allowed to touch a girl's butt until you're grown up"
That's right, I forgot about that rule
Not allowed to touch butts until you graduate from school”

The best Christmas lyric of all time:

Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth.
The thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

So much better than We Are The World. Do they know it's Christmas was done on the fly and had some heart. WATW was overproduced Hollywood schlock.

Amazing line. My family laughs about this every year.

Thank you God for starving those people on the other side of the world instead of me. Seriously thank you.

Mom got drunk and Dad got drunk
At our Christmas party
We were drinking champagne punch
And homemade egg-nog
Little sister brought her new boyfriend
He was a Mexican
We didn't know what to think of him
'Til he sang "Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad"
Brother Ken brought his kids with him
The three from his first wife Lynn
And the two identical twins
From his second wife Mary Nell
Of course he brought his new wife Kay
Who talks all about AA
Chain smoking while the stereo plays
"Noel, Noel, The First Noel"
Carve the Turkey, turn the ball game on
Mix margaritas when the egg-nog's gone
Send somebody to the Quickpak Store
We need some ice and an extension chord
A can of bean dip and some Diet Rites
A box of tampons and some Marlboro Lights
Hallelujah, everybody say, "Cheese"
Merry Christmas from the family
Fred and Rita drove from Harlingen
I can't remember how I'm kin to them
But when they tried to plug their motor home in
They blew our Christmas lights
Cousin David knew just what went wrong
So we all waited out on our front lawn
He threw the breaker and the lights came on
And we sang "Silent Night, oh Silent Night"
Carve the turkey, turn the ball game on
Make Bloody Mary's 'cause we all want one
Send somebody to the Stop 'N Go
We need some celery and a can of fake snow
A bag of lemons and some Diet Sprites
A box of tampons and some Salem Lights
Hallelujah, everybody say, "Cheese"
Merry Christmas from the family
Feliz Navidad

It's said sarcastically. Thematic with the rest of the song. Enjoy your Christmas while people are dying.

White Wine in the Sun-Tim Minchin

It’s not technically a Christmas song but it is to me. It’s rather beautiful.

quote:

And you, my baby girl
My jetlagged infant daughter
You'll be handed round the room
Like a puppy at a primary school
And you won't understand
But you will learn someday
That wherever you are and whatever you face
These are the people who'll make you feel safe
In this world
My sweet blue-eyed girl

And if my baby girl
When you're twenty-one or thirty-one
And Christmas comes around
And you find yourself nine thousand miles from home
You'll know what ever comes

United States of America, looks like another silent night
As we're sound asleep by philosophies
That save the trees and kill the children
And while we're laying in the dark
There's a shout heard 'cross the eastern sky
For the Bridegroom has returned
And has carried His bride away in the night
America, what will we miss while we are sleeping?
Will Jesus come again
And leave us slumbering where we lay?
America, will we go down in history
As a nation with no room for its King?

While You Were Sleeping - Casting Crowns

Check the lyrics from "12 Pains of Xmas". Anything after about the 3rd pain, as the song goes on. is on my list.
