CSB time. My brother got his grad degree from MIT. Dude is literally a scientist. Anyway, for one of his research projects he built a special type of reactor. He had to order various parts to construct his creation which caused a visit from the FBI. They track this stuff. When a combination of certain components is purchased by one person you can count on the FBI to come knocking on your door.

This was in the late 1990s.

Depends, will they deep dive why a 17 year old high school rock musician spent so much time hanging out with a 65 year old disgraced scientist?

Hey no spoilers!

Back to the Future reboot

They already made this movie, but it was a literal disaster. People were so upset they rose up and started WW3 which lasted decades. Eventually machines became sentient and humanity’s last hope was to build a time machine and go back to before this movie was green lit and stop its production.

Also the guy humanity sends back - his mom tried to frick him too

Thread should have ended here before it was posted.

Doc notes in the movie that he wiped out his family fortune by that point, so he probably did have the initial wealth to get to a working device.

Hell no, wtf is wrong with you. No, under no circumstances should this ever be remade. Little known fact, not everything needs a reboot.

Lloyd was 46 when he filmed the first one, which is a lot younger than the character looked.

Christopher Lloyd had a ton of makeup caked on him to play the 1985 Doc, which is why in BTTF 2 Doc went through the "rejuvenation" process to look more like his real-life age.

They made a spiritual successor in Hot Tub Time Machine which is probably as good a BTTF remake / reboot we will ever get.

Salvaging parts from bricked devices. Home brew shite using Raspberry Pi style devices. Having a supply of older analog devices that can be used as part of something else.

There are entire home brew channels on YouTube of people turning broken appliances into all kinds of crap, so Doc making a time machine out of a Prius or an Aztek isn’t necessarily a huge leap.
