And yet as teams got film, even arky and a&m shut him down.
Our scheme also devolved back to the early season one where we tried to slow the game down and run more condensed formations. Just utterly conservative scheme and playcalling.

I think BK will let all 3 compete for the job in spring ball if JD comes back. They’ll all get an honest evaluation and may the best man win. Someone will transfer either way.

He only made those uber risky throws vs Southern because he was trying to make the most of limited opportunity and pressed too much.
Against Aggie, we weren’t stopping them so we needed Nuss in there to compete in a shootout.

The play calling from Arkansas and A&M was truly baffling.
The complete lack of any adjustments against Arkansas made no sense.
He never will because it’s gotten him this far, but I really wish Kelly would look outside his comfort zone on offense and get someone like Garret Riley to come in. It would truly do wonders for him.

If you can't see the difference in arm talent from nuss to JD, I can't help you. Also, nuss isn't a statue and moves around in the pocket well with his eyes downfield.

Also, your “protect the football” QB had the pivotal turnover.
At least most of Nuss’ are going to be arm punts to safeties.

"With the same regular season record as Russell the year before."
No doubt. We were lucky in 2007 and 2006 might have won a 4 team playoff. But The really weird thing is that the 2006 Russell-led team frequently failed to score any points. Russell was incredibly talented and had a great year, AND he had more talent at WR than Flynn did the next year, but the 2007 team always scored plenty (27 and 28 in regulation in their losses compared to the single digits and low teens in the 2006 losses). Until Burrow, JR's 2006 season was the best I ever saw at LSU. But for some reason, Flynn's 2007 Tigers were more consistent on offense (change in OC's? better running game, albeit with the same RB's as I recall?).
Finally, I cannot agree that JD this year surpassed Russell in 2006. Forget stats, because times and schemes change, but Russell won the Manning Award for being the nation's best QB. JD is not going to be in that discussion.

The funny thing is, you go from Daniels to Nuss or Howard next year, you are taking a step back and everyone will really see the issues with the roster. Because while they go through growing pains, everything will take a step back. Then this place will really lose its marbles
I did a some research before the game on the ages of all our SECCG winning QBs/QBs that lead us to the NC or NCG and the seasons they had those years compared to the ones prior.( But I wound up saying “frick it.” This place didn’t deserve that effort. )
They were all 21-year-old-4th year Srs (and Jordan Jefferson was the only one of those) or older. Rohan was a 5th-year Sr. Matt Mauck was 24-year-old- 4th year guy. Flynn was a 5th-year-Sr, so was Burrow. Jarret Lee 5th year Sr. So 1 4th year guy in Jordan Jefferson, the rest were all 5th year guys. Except Mauck who was only a 4th year guy, but was the oldest of all of them because of baseball.
And they all made significant jumps
from the season prior to their championship runs. And because of COVID, Jayden Daniels has a chance to LSU’s only 5-year-starting QB. Not all 5 years with LSU, but the only one to have started 5 seasons. It’s obvious experience matters, assuming you have the baseline skills, which he more than does.
I love the new shiny toy too, and would be very intrigued to see Howard or Nuss play more. But while they may make for a more “exciting” brand of offense, our only hope to win any championships is with JD5 coming back. Experience/maturity matters. It just does.

I didn’t realize I had a QB.
I want whoever the coaching staff thinks will give LSU the best chance to win, to play. There’s a reason I don’t get paid $10mil a year to coach football.
Identifying glaring holes in arguments for/against either QB and idiotic claims like the AD needing to decide the depth chart, I do for free.

Carter was out the entire 4th qtr. He was wreaking havoc on the Oline and would have put even more pressure on Nuss. I was impressed by the play of Nuss and give him kudos for going out there and letting it go but it is a different scenario to go out when the game is out of hand and you have no pressure to win and to go out there being expected to perform. Nuss had nothing to lose, no shoulder to look over and the backups in. To say he is suddenly the answer to our offense shows such a lack of understanding of this game. And anyone who says we would have had a better record if Nuss was the starter from the beginning is an idiot.

So he got better throwing the football? You know, the main thing a QB is supposed to do. Those running yards are great until he hurts his ankle because he runs so much. Then you’re stuck with an average qb who has peaked as a passer, who can’t run full strength.

My issue is with my alma mater paying someone this much to field a team that trots off after a blocked FG and goes from the gun on 4th and inches in a Championship alongside the questionable QB evaluation.

I think Nuss is better with a lot more games under his belt. People here have to remember that JD played on the college level and transferred here. Nuss is really just starting out, so yeah give him more in game experience and he will be a lot better then JD.

"UGA knew lsu had to pass the ball to win. still couldn't stop nuss."
I loved seeing Nuss sling it in the second half, but he did turn the ball over twice. You can't ignore that.

It doesn’t bother you that LSU is paying someone Saban/Kirby money to make junior college coaching mistakes?

I don't know where this "second best season in LSU history" thing is coming from. I guess if you follow blind stats that don't take into account anything to do with the era a QB is in, or the efficiency of which said QB operates the offense, you could make the argument. The second best season I've seen from an LSU QB was Rohan Davey in 2001.
