Hospitals are starting the Covid idiocy again

My neighbors are expecting their first child after years of trying.
The wife is 34 weeks pregnant and they both tested positive for Covid yesterday.
She had trouble catching her breath this morning so they called an ambulance and the paramedics took her to the hospital.
The husband just called us and said the doctors have decided to do a C-section tonight and the baby will immediately be sent to the NICU.
No big deal, right?
They have also informed them that the mother will not be allowed to see the baby until December 10th and the father won't be able to see her until the 14th.
What in the actual frick?
We are 3 years into this shite and medical "professionals" are once again acting like it's a global killer.

I mean if the mother is having trouble catching her breath and they feel like it’s stressing the baby this all sounds pretty damn reasonable.
I wouldn’t want any respiratory virus around my baby in the damn NICU dude.

Those “professionals” understand infants 6 weeks premature, without fully developed lungs, delivered via surgery are the definition of at risk.
Go on about your NASCAR.

This is pretty much SOP for any newborn concerning a respiratory illness.
Especially a premie. Use some common sense.

There's not enough information on here to make judgement. My wife had covid when she was pregnant and it was nothing. This lady may not be reacting as well?

Call it Covid or the flu or a virus but in any event having trouble breathing is not good for mom and baby.

The baby doesn't have a respiratory illness. The father doesn't even have symptoms and he can't see his first child until she is over two weeks old.
This is fricking lunacy, not common practice.

Bet you have a lot of trouble with who/whom and simple division.

That's why she is going to the NICU.
It doesn't fricking explain why her parents, one of which has zero symptoms, can't see her through a glass window for two fricking weeks.
Get your head out of your arse.

Even if you had just a basic education you would know this is a common precaution.

How many times do we see the same post?

Deal. First place I’ll go is NICU. Because I don’t have Covid.

Not allowing parents to see their child through a glass window is a common precaution?
Are you just an idiot here or do you walk around as one on a daily basis?

I found out recently that an ambulance ride costs $1800. I didn’t have a choice but yikes.
