But he didn't lie to LSU fans.... true... he didn't handle that situation the best. Outside of that... why is their hatred?
All coaches lie. However, the WVMD took it to extreme levels. He interviewed for at least one NFL position, every year he was here, and still had to lie to LSU, recruits, etc., until he got his gift wrapped perfect job - Miami. Then when he fumbled that, he couldn't take his money and sit out a year and take a job that was NOT a direct stab in the back at LSU. He pretty much could have taken any job outside of the SEC-W (possibly excluding Florida, who is an every year opponent) and the LSU community would probably have wished him well. But no, he takes a job where he directly competes for recruits and a spot in the Championship against LSU each and every year.
That's why I dislike the SOB. Had he sat home for a year and got to know his family (who would only miss him on the first and the fifteenth of every month, as it is now), watch some film, network, he probably could have commanded even MORE money from Michigan. Anyway, water under the bridge.
Around the bowl and down the hole.....

Displaced. Michigan State would be the one who should have the real gripe. LSU took him away under their nose. Why would anybody not expect Saban not to go to the pros. Positive thing, he was able to keep some good LSU players from leaving the state. Built of the program. I can't blame young players who want to be pros not playing for Saban.

Its different about Steve Spurrier. He went to Florida and won a Heisman Trophy for Florida. He coached at Florida for over 10 years and brought them countless SEC titles. He went on to coach the Redskins, and went to South Carolina, who hasnt really won anything, and isnt exactly Florida's big rivalry. Now Bama is one of our main rivalries and a lot of us Tiger fans hate Bama, that is why we can't see wait to see Candyman Saban go down on Saturday afternoon.

He held LSU hostage every year at the end threatening to go to the NFL.
He then leaves LSU on fricking Christmas Day. Typical for Nick the Prick because it is all about HIM.
When he decides to take the Bama job, he immediately starts taking credit for the job Les Miles had done.
Then he starts going after committed LSU players telling them that he made LSU. None decommitted.
Then he goes to Moffitt, Searles, Jimbo and others offering obsurd amounts of $$ to leave LSU for Gumpville.
And you have the coonass story which was him trying to be cool to reporters.
Yes, I fricking hate his arse. He is a good coach, but he can give a frick less about Alabama or LSU. He is a mercenary with no feelings about anyone. And if I were a Gump, I would not get too comfortable with him being there long term.

Either you're with us or you're against us. Do you want to take a stab at which one Nick Saban is?

Bama fans will understand soon. He has taken that program to places it hasn't been in years. He did similar things here. Then he lied and left. After that as others have said he lied and left again, this time to go to one of our most hated rivals. He will not stay at Ala. He will get Ala fans expecting to have years of prosperity like this. Then he lie and leave again. Maybe he will leave on a Christmas Day. Maybe he leave on an Ala "holy day" - Bear's birthday. Then they will understand. We are very fortunate we got Les Miles after he left. Ala may not be so lucky to get a man of integrity.

Could it be that they introduced him at the Alabama/LSU basketball game, could it be that he announce on Christmas day... merry forking christmas, could it be that he tells his coaches by email, could it be that he says he has doubts about taking the LSU job on the flight down here, could it be that oh never mind if you don't get it by now you never will.

Do you really think he would have come back to LSU if our job had been open? I mean... Spurrier passed on Florida because he felt he had "already done that."
Spurrier didn't pass on Florida.
They told him to submit a FRICKEN RESUME. That pissed him off so he went elsewhere.

I remember reading somewhere that in hindsight, he never really wanted to go to Miami but the Dolphins owner basically did a good sales job
If he didn't want to go, he wouldn't have!
I don't hate him, I just don't like or respect him as a human being. He's a very good coach but he's an even bigger sleazebag.
It's as if you (LSU) were married to a beautiful woman (Saban) and you gave her everything she asked for. She lacked nothing financially, emotionally or in physical comforts. She constantly told you how happy she was and that there was no other man she'd rather be with.
And then she starts having an affair with the doctor down the street who makes a little more money than you do, who promises her bigger diamonds and trips to Monaco and the French Riviera with Beluga caviar instead of the very nice but less gaudy things you give her. All the time you suspect something's up and you ask her about it and she denies it.
Then one day you come home to find she's packed up and run off with him. Two years later she decides that she made a mistake. She can't come back to you because you've remarried an equally or more beautiful woman. So your ex decides to take up with your next door neighbor who just lost his wife. And in public she professes to everyone that she still loves you and wishes you well but does everything possible to wreck your marriage and your business.
That bitch is Nick Saban!
And yes, I resent him going to Bama because I know he is going to be successful there and in doing so represents a direct threat to LSU's success. But I especially resent him taking credit for LM's success and his recruiting tactics in La. Recruits are fair game for everyone but when he uses his contacts in La. and his lying to recruits concerning LSU, it is extremely despicable! I highly doubt that Les disparages Michigan in his recruitment of players both LSU and Mich. are pursuing.
In my book, Nick the Prick has no honor or integrity whatsoever and if that's ok with you my friend, then that doesn't speak very well of you as a person either!

Here is my problem with Nick.
I know that this is a business and legally Nick owes nothing to LSU. That is fine in an amoral world.
But, we live in a world where morals are important. I have had past jobs. I am still close with my former employers and their families.
If you have a choice and you left on good terms, you don't do anything that is injurious to your previous employer. You owe that to them due to your personal and professional relationship with them. That employer provided you with a livelihood.
There are some that do not have choices. Sometimes you have to take a job with a competitor of a former employer.
But, Nick Saban had choices. He already had a high paying job at Miami and could have picked any college job in America.
Nick Saban chose an SEC Western Division opponent. That makes him a POS.

Nick Saban is a great coach, probably the best college coach there is today.
But he is the epitome of self seeking, selfish motives. And the problem is that a lot of people in this world see nothing wrong with being that way. They think being selfless is a weakness. They are the same kind of people that consequently see being kind as a weakness. They think you have to walk over your neighbor to advance and there's no other way. They also would look at your analogy as if to say, "well, your loss..."
And you can't teach or convince somebody that. It's a character thing. So therefore, some people have no problem with what Nick did.

100% fact. Both Saban and Spurrier were in Baton Rouge last year talking to LSU about coaching the Tigers when Miles was rumored to be taking the Michigan job. Straight out of the mouth of a big LSU supporter and higher up at Shaw.........
