1.78 seconds passes
How can a "professional" basketball official allow almost half of the time remaining on the clock to elapse without noticing that the clock didn't start correctly?
If you watch enough basketball, you always see the official that is out near halfcourt pointing to another official when the shot clock gets below 10 seconds saying "I got the shot clock if the shot is taken close to the time expiring".
I'm almost certain the same responsibility falls on that same official that has a view of the game clock for making sure the game clock starts correctly when there are only a few seconds left.
It's just one game, but this is baffling how it was screwed up and then ignored.
