The cultural communists are more dangerous than the political communists

People who are nostalgic for the USSR, like Putin a man who organized and ran the Red Army Faction terrorist group in the 80s and personally gave orders for Americans to be killed, will always be a cultural enemy.
Roger Waters, a self professed communist who has publicly called for the destruction of Isreal and the slaughter of Jews, is another classic cultural communist.
These infiltrators must be dealt with swiftly if the human race is to survive.
Death to communism.

the purely economic marxists never really got anywhere in the US
but the cultural marxists have succeeded spectacularly. They took over the schools and using that as their base, went on to control the MSM, Hollywood, sports, and in their most impressive conquest of all, corporate HR depts -- giving them a foothold in a culture that would seem to oppose them.

I would add activist investor as well. Together with these HR depts, they've totally changed the corporate scene.

To see how we got to where we are, look up the Institute of Social Research (the Frankfurt School) and some of its members:
Max Horkheimer, the later acknowledged "Father of Sensitivity Training" now which is called PC.
Herbert Marcuse known as "The Architect of the New Left," who helped foment the strife at Berkeley in the '60s and author of Eros and Civilization (one of the two unofficial Marxist "handbooks" in the West).
The other one "The Authoritarian Personality" in which Horkheimer and fellow travelers Theodor W. Adorno, Else Frenkel-Brunswik, Daniel J. Levinson und R. Nevitt Sanford crafted a "study" on fascism which in effect is little more than a hit piece on white people and the military.
Georgy Lukacs - neo-marxist, deviant and Minister of Culture during the Kun Government in Hungary who experimented on its children by exposing them to every deviancy that was known at the time.
He eventually wound up here with the rest of them. Apparently his methods against children never really went away.
Norbert Wiener who gave "cybernetics" its name - and his connection to the Macy Conferences.
The American-born John Dewey, who fraternized with and acted as "character reference and sponsor" for those mentioned above who were given political sanctuary here during the War by a very naive "brain trust" running the country at the time.
Dewey also offered himself as a character reference for Alger Hiss during his trial for espionage.
Dewey also went on to craft the educational approach that would be taken by the nation's public school system.
Walter Lippmann and his pal Edward Bernays who was the nephew of Freud and went on to be regarded as "the Father of Propaganda."
It's Bernays's behavior modification methods that wound up archived by those who run Madison Avenue. The reason you see the onslaught of counter-cultural images daily on your television.
Only a few names and a brief glimpse at the all-out, manifold, insidious, cultural/psychological assault on this country and the West that's been going on since at least 1935.
It's how we got to this dubious point in this now reeling Republic.

I guess in my pea brain Ive always associated communism with societies and socialism with economies with both being sides of the same tyrannical coin that invested in power for the elites.

Combine that with the fact that jews invented communism and have been at the forefront of promoting it worldwide, the statement in question makes no sense.
