A constitutional republic, not a democracy. This is such a gay "talking point"
What makes our system special is not even discussed in this pedantic little pissing match … its FEDERAL nature, and particularly the very specific FORM of its federal nature, as crafted in our unique Constitution.
You can have a representative democracy that does not REMOTELY protect minority rights from the tyranny of the majority. Even in a federal system, you can definitely have a Constitution that does not have an Electoral College. The list goes on and on. Our unique Constitution addresses those issues and more.
If we want to be truly descriptive, the USA is a representative democracy in the form of a federal constitutional republic.

This is 100% incorrect
The term republic does not mean “representative democracy” - it is a form of government where law supersedes the whims of the any one group.
