If I were to tell you, before the WC began, that we drew 1-1 with Wales, giving up a dumb PK in the 80th, most US Soccer supporters would have taken that as a win.

We completely dominated the first half. Pressed. Passed. Moved the ball. It was literally everything we could have dreamed.
Our goal was magnificent, showing our world class talent.

The second half, needless to say, was disappointing. We know Gregg is extremely limited tactically. The lack of planning once the Welsh changed tactics frustrated us fans, but we should expect it.

We STILL control our destiny. Group advancement will most likely come down to goal difference, and with Iran being dejected last day, the schedule bodes well in our favor.

Relax.

?????

Not if we dominated and looked like taking the three points

1-1 vs Wales is fine. How it happened, wasn’t

Wales is awful. Their defense was terrible. Their midfield was lazy. US should have won this game easily.

No they don’t

So in the world of soccer Wales is equivalent to Bama football? That’s interesting to know. If it were England, id take the draw. You HAVE to beat fricking Wales.

No, we don’t.
Tie Wales.
Lose close, tie England.
Beat Iran.
Advance.

The first half was magical. Instilled in us what could be. Second half was our reality under Gregg. It’s what’s expected.

What? No. Their player that scored the pk plays in the mls.

No, frick no. That is not my expectations. And it shouldn’t be for any actual die hards that know the team better.

Wales isn’t good.

The media crowning Bale when he was awful for entire game except for his exceptional penalty

I saw him huffing and looked at my friend and was like, dude isn’t in shape for this. But we were up.

Crazy things can happen, but that was disappointing result for me. Especially knowing a win gets you in without capitulation.

Neither are we. We’re the second youngest team in the tournament. We have a tactically inept manager. While we have more talent than Wales, once they made their changes, we were in trouble. Once ANY team makes tactical changes, we’re in trouble.

I’ve been to a handful of US national team matches, a member of Outlaws in DC, Tulsa, and now Mobile. Coached high school soccer.
I am a close follower of the team, and am not shocked by the result.

What I am shocked by is:

1. The first half. That is a GLIMPSE into our future. And it was awesome to see.

2. The collective reaction of this board/other ppl thinking the sky is falling. This is a three game tournament. 4 pts with good goal differential will advance. 5 pts is guaranteed advancement.

Relax all.

you say this as if this gives you some kind of cred. It is the opposite of what you think.

This was my point. Beating England isn’t happening. Beat Iran 3-0 or better, try to keep England within 2

Come on. I know mathematically we didn’t HAVE to beat Wales, but you HAVE to beat Wales.

It was simply evidence to show I am a follower of the team.

Explain what was impressive about the first half? Wales wasn’t pressing at all. They were sitting back. Our defense line basically just passed it side to side for half of the half. It wasn’t impressive in my opinion.

No. You don’t. I don’t think any serious follower of this team thought we’d have six points after group stage.
