Al horford, while a solid 3 shooter, was 4-4 in the 1st. The team was like 11/18 in the 1st. Down 15 in said 1st and we lost by 8.
Yeah there's a lot we need to work on, but we fought all fricking night.
We let the best team in the league build a 15 point lead early and we still had a chance to win at the end.
Be encouraged, this team just showed it's elite af even with its flaws.

Well it's about the matchups and our missing pieces were more critical than thiers. Zion's loss was far more cripling to the Pelicans than any of their missing players because of the overwelming advantage we would have had inside. Also, losing trey didn't help either. Willie still needs play Jose before DG.

Absolutely, we were not without faults. I'm not sure why we had a line of graham, marshall, Nance, Dyson, BI in the 1st quarter and had 0 minutes for Jose.
But even with that, some bad turnovers, herb/Dyson being embarrassed defensively a few times, etc, we fought and had a chance in the last 2-3 minutes.

We're at a point where I'm just happy if we take a step in the right direction during a regular season game, by improving in some area where we need to do so to become a serious contender come playoff time.
Tonight, I thought that "step" was by BI. NO matter what...we MUST have him shooting more 3s and less fall away midrange shots. He fogged up 11 3s tonight out of his 20 total shots...and hit 5 of them which is 45% and, of course, is the same as shooting 67% from the field on 2-pt shots. I don't really mind a loss...if it looks like the team, or a key player...took an important step in the right direction.

100%. CJ had the last couple, but BI came alive tonight, especially from 3.
I really feel like a lot is coming together for this team and from December (if not earlier) on, we will see the team we all expected.
Like shel says in his thread from the other day, we're a slow starting team, but we're starting to see it all fall into place. And we're so far ahead of our usual slow starts.

I’ll say this, I hope this is the new version of BI going forward.
Still wish he’d step up defensively and guard at least the second best player ala Tatum, but his 11 threes is EXACTLY what I want more of.
He’s lighting it up again from three and it was criminal he was taking only 3.5 a game. He should be taking 35-50% of his attempts from three a given night. Frankly it will only open up the mid range game he loves so much that much more

This is what I don't get. Jose's first shift should be early in the first quarter. The opposing starters wont be gassed by any means, but they will not be fresh. Use one of Jose's strengths (his hustle) when the opposing lineup has a few possessions left before they will want a break.

They were 14/25 at one point in the first half.
They're a good team. It's the 4th time they've hit 20 threes in a game this season. They've been on a tear

No Dinky, he shot more threes because TM3 was not available. True, he can up them to about 6 or 7 per, but his game is midrange and that's what pays come the playoffs. BI will keep his rhythm with the midrange in his bag for the regular season to be sharp when money games are on the line.

Actually, the main thing about tonight's BI performance...was NOT the total amount of 3s he took...but the frequency with which he took them compared to his other shots. I think he was around 21% of his total shots taken, being 3-pt shots, before tonight. 55% of his shots tonight were 3s. He needs to be around 35% of his shots being 3s, like they were the 1st 2 years he was with the Pels. And even higher than that...when he's on the court at the same time as Zion...for obvious reasons.
It's not really rocket surgery...BI shoots around 45/46% from midrange and that translates to around 30% on 3-pt shots. I think BI can shoot 3s at a higher clip than 30%...maybe I'm wrong.

BI is good on 3s where he can step in, but no so much off dribble and pick action. This is why he should not be a volume 3 guy. He'll get plenty of opportunity with Zion to up his volume to maybe 6 to 8 per night where he can be efficient.
Never mind though, the defense is the key. Pelicans have Jose, Dyson, and Herb to limit guard and wing play but Zion and another big are going to have to be more effective on the perimeter. Horford kills us every time.

Ingram has really improved as a 3 point shooter. He looks much more confident in his shot.
For the pels to be the team they need to be bi has to be that guy.

I couldn't watch last night. What happened to Murphy?
Posted on 11/19/22 at 10:28 am to TH03
We win the game if we don’t forget to guard the perimeter in the first quarter against one of the best 3 ball teams in the league. maybe they forgot about that in the scouting report.

Also can someone explain to me why we still give DG minutes and not give those to Jose. Don’t give me no horseshite they’re saving him for later. No reason he shouldn’t be playing in the 1st quarter

The problem is they look better without Zion on the floor.
That is the piece that needs development. He is an unbelievable talent that needs to mesh better with JV and BI.

I totally disagree. Zion looks awesome. BI has and can play really good ball with Zion. Willie Green needs to adjust JV to fit Zion or move JV to where he is not playing as much with Zion. Point Zion fixes a bunch of things. He is the incredible, unstoppable player on our team.
Zion is the truth. Everything else needs to follow the truth.
