Yes I understand playing a 9 game schedule but that leaves 6 teams you do not play. And without having teams on divisions it leaves open the possibility of having a multiple teams with the same record who did not play each other.

I still think the best way to mitigate this is to have the 4 team Pods or 8 Team Divisions

I really don't see this as a problem. All the teams involved in this scenario in the SEC will probably make the expanded playoffs. We will just have to disagree.

This said, I'm not a fan of this cream rises to the top model. I'm a fan of Cinderella. While this model is probably better for TV, I don't think it's great for the sport of college football. Pods allow more schools to declare themselves champions of something and give them hope of winning it all if circumstances allow. I think 2001 LSU was a great story; so were those MO teams a few years ago. That isn't going to happen anymore and I think that is a loss.

With 16 teams in the league, they have to do something to maximize the chances of everyone playing every school within a 2-4 year window. 8 team divisions would be absolutely awful in that regard. Might as well be 2 difference conferences.
