Solid A, I too thought 8 wins would be a phenomenal reach. Great coaches take average to above average players and get the most out of them. He and his staff have done that. The gump game is living proof of that, just an unbelievable win that night. As the saying goes, "The best is Yet to Come."

A+ Had to build this from the ground up. Yes, we had some quality talent and a great brand. The program was trending in the negative direction after a great 2019. Homerun hire and expecting more great things.

Be nice if the fan base would not over react to everything that is not perfect or a step back. This is not a battle it is a war and we will be on top.

I’m gonna give an F to a dumb thread asking a bunch of LSU fans what grade they give their first year head coach who has them in the playoff hunt after 2 awful seasons. Like, what did you expect people to say?

Grade: A+

I projected an 11-1 no worse than 10-2 season. Many friends and family laughed at me! Honestly, I didn’t think either record would be good enough to represent the west in the SEC Championship Game! CBK is a winner, and he can flat out coach. With his coaching prowess and our recruiting talent pool, I knew he had an opportunity to win in year 1. Great coaching of great talent truly makes a huge difference. Remember, he won 3 national championships at Grand Valley Sate, and he has been a winner at every stop in his career. The rest of this season is bright, and the future of LSU Football is even brighter. He will become the first LSU HC in football to win multiple national championships. Book it!

First year grade for Kelly?

A++

I came into this season expecting 4-5 losses as a ceiling. I didn't even acknowledge SECCG as a possibility.

I don’t believe you can give an appropriate grade with four games still to be played and recruiting to be finalized.

Doing a, to this point in time grade, I would give a B+. The Florida state L and Tennessee blowout have to be negative impacts on any grade. Now, I certainly believe having a successful finish to the season could push a grade into the A category.

"The guy turned burnt roux into something my grandmother would be jealous of."

Mais, you got that right, Cher! A statement from someone who lived "down the bayou" in Orgeron land!

We are where I thought we would be, but a year earlier. I never expected this so soon. The future, especially recruiting, looks brighter than ever.

I like him, don’t get me wrong. But the special teams clusterfrick early on, not playing Perkins, and not having Daniels ready to throw the ball were glaring errors that cost us 1, if not 2 games.

So you're saying to get an A+ he needed to make every correct decision?

There's no thought in your mind that he's evaluating these players and what they do best and learning on the go? There's no thought in your mind that some players get better as the year goes on? BK just has to know right off the bat who the best options are?

Maybe some crucial information is only available after some games have been played.

I never thought this team ever had a chance of doing too much...6-6/7-5 was about their ceiling....obviously, I was WAY wrong....

Kelly has proved that he's a REAL coach.....

I’ve never seen this type of turnaround given where we were in January

Grade A. Even if we don't beat Geogia, no one in their right mind can disagree that this was not a successful season for Coach Kelly and what he has accomplished in his first year.

A+. We're champs of the west how could it not be A+. I thought we'd be 10-2 but I didn't think we'd be champs with 2 weeks left.

Prior to the season I thought that 8 wins was tops. Totally exceeded my expectations and more. Our next 2 opponents should make it a 10-2 regular season record. That's excellent considering the past 2 years.
