HOLY shite. ENRON was something I really never followed. Perhaps I was too young to understand or care about what they were doing.

What's so crazy to me is that there are thousands of ENRONS all over the world doing the exact same shite.

The part that really irritated me were the phone conversations from employees making fun of Grandma freezing in the winter or suffocating in the summers because of the power issues they purposely caused for California.

What a very sick and twisted organization and I am happy that all of those shady employees who thought they were becoming multi millionaires ended up getting fricked in the arse and got nothing.

No but it's pretty solid. Every few months I put it on in the background. Of documentaries, only that and the Canon doc are in that rotation.

My sis in law sells homes in ritzy areas here. She had a long chat with Jeff Skilling last week and said he was a nice enough guy. He IIRC lives alone and has since divorced the gal he was married to during the whole debacle.

that's interesting. i'm a long time semi-follower of the Enron story and the folks involved. my hot take on it has always been that Fastow got off easy and Skilling got hit too hard (part of that is due to the fact that he adamantly refused to ever take any kind of deal and was so arrogant about it all). he's a guy that I'd love to randomly end up shooting the shite at a bar with.

We've been here a long time together, but I gotta ask...

What kind of weird frick put on the Enron documentary in the background every few months?

I thought it was one of the best docs I have ever watched. I actually thought it was going to be boring as shite which was the reason it took me so long to sit down and watch it - but it was fascinating and I loved the nostalgia vidoes, etc.

It was just a great, well done doc

have you watched the documentary? it is actually a pretty decent show to have running while you're only half paying attention, once you know the main story.

I actually met a guy who was in club fed with Skilling.

Skilling was everything you'd think he was, even in prison.

Watching the doc is always mind-blowing to me as a lesson in how even hyper-intelligent people can delude themselves and fall into groupthink (or create the groupthink to shield themselves, allowing the delusion). Skilling is an insanely smart guy who kept pushing along even though he was failing.

It's an entertaining movie that was built well and did a good job creating the characters. Classic cautionary tale, but not fictionalized like a Wolf of Wall Street.

They way they caused the rolling blackout in California that got Gray Davis recalled and Arnold elected really opened my eyes to how corporations control the world.

He was actually making fun of the liberal tactic of playing the victim card around the old, minorities, women or kids.
