Penn State = Pretenders

DON'T DO IT. Don't fall for it 3 years in a row !!
In 06, Ohio State and Michigan (#1 and #2) played the game of the century. Jake Long, Chad Henne, Mike Hart, Adrian Arrington, Mrio Maningham etc. vs. Troy Smith (he won some kind of trophy), Beanie Wells, Golstein, Laurenitis, Ginn, etc. We all know how that turned out.
Same thing last year.
Penn State is no better than the 06 and 07 OSU teams or the 06 Michigan team. They are beating THEIR OWN. They struggled to beat a team that lost to USC 35-3!
Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and USC would ALL beat Penn State by at least 14. Texas Tech, Mizzou, LSU, and Ohio State (rematch)would possibly beat them.
I love the unis, the tradition, and Paterno. But the interior line play in the Big 10 is sub-par, and it will show itself again. I don't see them losing the last 3 , so we will see.

So 2 straight Ohio State arse wippings followed by that epic fail at USC with 19 starters returning is flawed logic??
Reality Check Junior.

Why would an LSU fan even complain about getting OSU in a title game?
How many points do you think USC would put on LSU this year anyway?

Maybe because that conference's top team is inferior to the other elite teams in college football.

no im challenging your logic, which you completely sidestepped.
06. OSU was good. had a bad game. It happens look at lsu this year.
07. We were not a top 5 team. We were thrown into a game we didnt belong in.
Can you really blame 08 penn state for that? and honestly answer that question

Actually, I'm an LSU fan complaining about Penn State getting in the title game. Reading comprehension dude.
You do realize I'm saying OSU would win in a re-match this year??
My team is out, and I want the best match-up. Get back with me in January.

If you have even watched a PSU game this season, I don't see how you could possibly say they're any less impressive than any of the teams at the top right now.
Your logic is flawed, because for one, you exclude some vital information that would contradict your thesis right off the bat--PSU blew out Oregon State, who later beat.... which team was it again???

And they murdered a team that beat USC, so there goes your theory.

It's a backhanded insult, and this time, the transitive property is applied to your reasoning.

It sure gets quiet when once hidden facts are exposed.

We'll see. The Big Ten was the worst BCS conference last year according to about half the computer rankings out there (including mine); most ratings have the Big Ten as the #3 conference this year.
Penn State won't win it all, but they're considerably better than any Ohio State team since 2002.

For the 100th time:
9-2 L11 Bowl Games (none vs Big 10 teams)
14-5-1 in the Rose, Sugar, Orange and Fiesta
26-12-2 in bowl games (most with JoePa as HC)
btw that is the BEST bowl record in the HISTORY of College Football....the BEST. That means NO ONE is BETTER in BOWL GAMES. Hopefully you can understand English.
Since you're so interested in 2006 and 2007 with all this talk about the Buckeyes:
2006 Penn State bowl game vs SEC played in an SEC state: Penn State won. SEC speed? Yep I heard that one in 06.
2007 Penn State bowl game vs Big XII in Texas of all places: Penn State won again. Big XII scores at will? Yep I heard that one in 07.
So 2006...SEC speed...PSU wins.
So 2007...Big XII scores at will...PSU wins.
Again...find me a better team in bowl games. You can't...so your argument is (buffalo chips.)
You want the best game in January? Then you better pray Alabama or Texas goes down before then and we run the table.
Class dismissed.
Oh and before you start pouting about it being "history" and "irrelevant" realize that the majority of the coaching staff has been there 20+ years with most key coaches on the staff having been here 25-30 years OR MORE. So our bowl prep is done by the same coaches that were prepping our team for bowl games in the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and the 21st century.
Yeah...it's relevant.

Regarding the close win v OSU, it was somewhat underwhelming, but LSU and USC essentially had home games v OSU, and Florida was a neutral site. night game at shoe isn't easy for ANY team IMO... see 2005 Texas (went on to win national championship).

I'm actually very interested to see if the pollsters would have to move Alabama to 4 to get Penn State into the title game if the computers have it Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, PSU.
Really, I kinda want PSU to get fricked because Joe Pa leading the charge might get us a plus-one (of course I have no idea who "deserves" the 4th spot this season if 3 teams go undefeated)

1 loss Oklahoma over 0 loss PSU would be an absolute travesty, and I doubt it's even possible.
